Takes dig at Kejriwal for linking Yoga with PM Modi

"There was a time when many people had not even seen the Secretariat. They had to reach here after asking for directions multiple times. Today, this Secretariat is open to all: the public, society, and families. Our goal is to give Delhi its real identity and its historical pride. Today, since the start of the day, people celebrated the International Yoga Day as a national event..." the Chief Minister said during a book launch event.

Earlier today, CM Gupta participated in the International Yoga Day celebrations organised at the Yamuna river, joining the students and the boat club members as part of the nationwide effort to promote Yoga.

She also reiterated the promise of cleaning the Yamuna while also hitting out at the Aam Aadmi Party for ignoring the river.

"For years, Yamuna has been ignored by the governments that have been in power; they didn't do the work that should have been done. But, we are continuing our efforts to clean the river Yamuna since we assumed power in Delhi... Today, from the bank of this river, we participate in Yoga to give a message to the people of Delhi that the work is ongoing to clean the river. Soon, there will be cruises here where the boats are," the Delhi CM told reporters here.

The CM also took a jibe at AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, saying that it cannot be helped if the latter associates Yoga with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"If he (Arvind Kejriwal) sees PM Modi's face in yoga, what can we do? It is possible that after seeing something in the food, he might stop eating. After seeing the BJP's government in Delhi, he left Delhi," the CM said.

The International Day of Yoga (IDY) is celebrated on June 21. This year marks the 11th International Day of Yoga with the theme "Yoga for One Earth, One Health", which echoes a vital truth that personal wellness and planetary health are inseparably linked.

Good to see focus on Delhi's heritage! But cleaning Yamuna should be priority #1. We've heard promises for decades - action speaks louder than words. The boat cruise idea is nice, but first make the river water actually clean enough for boats!

As a Delhiite, I appreciate the efforts to make government more accessible. The Secretariat was indeed like a fortress earlier. But please don't mix yoga with politics - it's our ancient tradition that belongs to all Indians, not any one party 🙏

Finally some focus on Delhi's glorious history! From Indraprastha to Mughal era to British capital - we have so much heritage that needs preservation. Hope they restore old monuments too along with Yamuna cleanup. Delhi deserves this makeover! 🇮🇳

The political digs are unnecessary. Just focus on governance! We common people don't care about party politics - we want clean air, water and better infrastructure. Less talk, more work please. Yoga Day was beautiful though! 😊

Cleaning Yamuna is easier said than done. Previous governments failed because it needs massive sewage treatment and stopping industrial waste. Hope this time there's proper budget and scientific approach, not just photo ops at Yoga events.

Love the vision for Delhi! But wish politicians wouldn't turn everything into BJP vs AAP fight. Can't we have one day where we just celebrate yoga and our capital's heritage without political mudslinging? #DelhiDeservesBetter
