"In the first phase, 130 villages got pipeline connections, and today, in the second phase, 111 villages are getting pipeline connections. Now 116 villages are left, and I promise you that by the end of this year, they will also receive pipeline connections," Gupta said.

While speaking at the event, Gupta said that the elected representative used to have difficulty with the issue of installing gas pipeline connections earlier, despite the fact that it eases the lives of homemakers.

"Some of the MLAs used to have a problem with the installation of the pipeline, I don't know why. If this eases the life of housewives, then what is the problem here?" the Delhi CM said, adding that the establishment of PNG (Piped Natural Gas) networks was suggested by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Before PM Modi came to power, there were small necessities that didn't prevail in the society. He was the one who addressed that there should be toilets, PNG.... he addressed the problem of kitchen smoke, lack of washrooms," Gupta said.

She also highlighted that with the PNG connections, the gas will remain available all the time, ending all problems, even those of leakages.

"When cylinders used to blast, there were fires due to leakage, and we have faced this. Now, gas will reach through the pipeline and will be available 24x7, ending all problems. Nobody even thought that villages could also have a pipeline," Gupta said.

Delhi Minister Ashish Sood said, "The vision of PM Narendra Modi was to remove smoke from all the household kitchens. Till 2022, 30% of the villages still used conventional ways of energy, and that has now changed. A new chapter has been started with 111 villages."

Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena was also present at the event, along with the Chief Minister and other ministers in the state government.

They also participated in the foundation stone laying ceremony of a 500 KW Solar Energy plant in the Delhi assembly complex.

"Built in 1912 as the Parliament of India, the Assembly building and complex is an important part of our heritage. The steps taken here towards green energy are commendable. We need to restore this historical heritage and make it accessible to the people of Delhi," LG Saxena posted on X.

Finally some good news for our villages! My mother used to struggle so much with LPG cylinders. PNG will be a game-changer for rural women's health and convenience. Hope they keep their promise for the remaining villages too 🙏

Why did MLAs oppose this earlier? Makes no sense when it benefits common people. Good that CM Gupta is pushing through despite resistance. Our leaders should think about public welfare first, not politics.

Solar plant + PNG - double win for Delhi! But implementation needs monitoring. My colony got PNG last year but we still face pressure issues sometimes. Hope they improve infrastructure along with expansion.

As someone who shifted from village to city, I know the struggle of firewood kitchens. This will transform lives! But govt should also conduct safety workshops - pipeline gas is new for many villagers.

Good initiative but why take credit from PM? Local leaders should acknowledge their own role too. Development is teamwork. Anyway, happy to see Delhi villages getting modern amenities at last 👍

Hope they maintain the heritage building properly while adding solar panels. Our history is important too! Overall great steps towards cleaner energy and better living standards. More cities should follow Delhi's example.
