"The committee will be responsible for preparing the party's strategy, planning and grassroots-level campaign - K.C. Venugopal, Congress General Secretary"

Patna, Sep 16

The Congress has intensified its preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections in Bihar with the formation of a 39-member election committee on Tuesday, party sources said.

According to an order issued by the Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal, the committee will be responsible for preparing the party's strategy, planning and grassroots-level campaign for the state polls.

The panel includes top state party leaders such as Bihar Congress President Rajesh Ram and Congress Legislative Party leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan, along with 37 other senior members of the party's state unit.

Besides, Rajesh Kumar Ram and Shakeel Ahmad Khan, Madan Mohan Jha, Jitendra Gupta, Shakeel-U-Zamaan Ansari, Sanjeev Prasad Tony, Motilal Sharma, Kapil Deo Prasad Yadav, Anshul Avijit, Brajesh Kumar Pandey, Jamal Ahmed Bhallu, Manju Ram, Azmi Baari, Nagendra Kumar Vikal, Kailash Pal, Rajesh Rathore, Nirmalendu Verma, Qaisar Ali Khan, Prabhat Kumar Singh, Kamal Deo Narayan Shukla, Kumar Ashish, Jamotri Mamta Nishad, Shakil-ur Rehman, Santosh Kumar Srivastava, Dr Vishwanath Sarraf, Dr Ramesh Prasad Yadav, Shashi Ranjan, Subodh Mandal, Nadeem Akhtar Ansari, Neetu Nishad, Fauziya Rana, Ramshankar Kumar Pan, Uday Manjhi, Rekha Soren, Tarak Choudhary, Vishwanath Baitha, Sunil Kumar Patel Sadhna Rajak, and Khushboo Kumari are included in the panel list.

The move is seen as part of Congress' effort to rebuild its organisational strength in Bihar, where the party has been struggling to make a strong electoral impact in recent years.

The Congress, which contested 70 seats in the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections but managed to win only 19, is now aiming for a much stronger performance in the upcoming state polls with hopes of forming the government.

Determined to expand its footprint in the state, the Congress has been aggressively campaigning across Bihar.

Top Congress leaders are frequently visiting the state to mobilise support and galvanise the cadre ahead of the polls.

Recently, Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited Bihar as part of the recent Voter Adhikar Yatra, where he launched a sharp attack on the NDA government and the Election Commission over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list.

With the formation of a 39-member election committee, Congress leaders believe that the upcoming Assembly election could mark a turning point for the party in Bihar politics.

Only 19 out of 70 seats last time? 😬 Congress really needs to step up their game in Bihar. Forming committees is easy, but ground work is what matters. Hope they connect with youth and women voters properly.

Interesting to see the diverse representation in the committee - includes leaders from different communities and regions. This could help Congress appeal to broader voter base in Bihar's complex political landscape.

Committees won't win elections. Congress needs to show what they'll do differently for Bihar's development. People want solutions, not just political committees. Hope they focus on concrete promises.

Good to see women representation in the committee with leaders like Rekha Soren and Khushboo Kumari. Bihar needs more women in leadership roles. Hope this translates into women-centric policies.

Congress should learn from their past mistakes in Bihar. Instead of relying only on big names from Delhi, they need to empower local leaders who understand ground realities. This committee seems like a step in that direction.
