"This is not just a distillery but an ethanol plant - Yogi Adityanath"

Gorakhpur, April 18

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath laid the foundation stone of a 500-bed 'Powergrid Vishram Sadan' at AIIMS in Gorakhpur on Friday.

The upcoming shelter, designed to accommodate up to 500 individuals, will cost Rs 44 crore to build. The Power Grid Corporation of India is supporting the construction as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative.

This facility aims to benefit patients and their attendants who travel from far-flung areas for treatment at AIIMS Gorakhpur.

Earlier, CM Yogi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various development projects worth Rs 91 crores at Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology in Gorakhpur district.

Ahead of this CM has inaugurated a grain-based distillery plant worth Rs 1,200 crore under the super mega project at the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA).

Addressing the event, Chief Minister Adityanath said this is not just a Distillery but an ethanol plant. In the first phase, it will produce 350,000 litres of ethanol daily, with plans to increase production to 500,000 litres later on.

The Chief Minister said that ethanol production has increased from 42 lakh litres to 177 crore litres since Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the production of ethanol from surplus sugarcane.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the transformation under the BJP's leadership in Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA), noting that it has attracted over Rs 15,000 crore in investments, reversing a previous lack of interest in industrial setup.

This is such a welcome initiative! My uncle had to sleep on the hospital floor when he came for treatment last year. A proper resting place for attendants will make a huge difference. 🙏

While I appreciate the Vishram Sadan project, I wish the government would focus equally on improving doctor-patient ratios and medical equipment at AIIMS. Infrastructure is important, but so is quality care.

The ethanol plant sounds promising for local farmers! More income sources for sugarcane growers in UP. Hope the benefits actually reach the small farmers and not just the big players.

So many development projects in one day! Gorakhpur is really changing. My cousin works at GIDA and says the industrial growth has created hundreds of jobs. Fingers crossed this continues!

CSR initiatives like Powergrid's Vishram Sadan show how public-private partnerships can benefit society. More corporations should step up like this! 👏

Hope they maintain these facilities properly. Many government projects start with fanfare but then fall into disrepair. The shelter should have proper cleaning staff and security.
