Chirag Paswan says committed to his father's vision of Bihar First, Bihari First at Ram Vilas Paswan's death anniversary

Union Minister Chirag Paswan commits to father's "Bihar First, Bihari First" vision, pledges state's development ahead of crucial Bihar elections.

"I am fully committed to realising the path you showed and your vision, 'Bihar First, Bihari First' - Chirag Paswan"

Patna, October 8

Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Wednesday paid heartfelt tribute to his father and the founder of Lok Janshakti Party, Ram Vilas Paswan, on his death anniversary.

Chirag Paswan expressed his commitment towards his father's vision of "Bihar First, Bihari First," and vowed to achieve all-around development of the state.

In a post on X, Chirag Paswan said, "Papa, on your death anniversary, I bow to you. I assure you that I am fully committed to realising the path you showed and your vision, "Bihar First, Bihari First." The dream you had of the overall and all-round development of Bihar has now come to fruition. Fulfilling the responsibility you entrusted to my shoulders is the purpose and duty of my life."

Paswan said that the upcoming Bihar election is an opportunity to fulfil his father's resolve.

"The grand festival of democracy is about to begin in Bihar. The upcoming elections are an opportunity to fulfil your resolve -- an opportunity to give Bihar a new direction, to realise the dreams of every Bihari. I am determined to carry forward the caravan of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas) that you built. It is the dream of every worker and office-bearer of the party that your dreams can be fulfilled in the upcoming elections," he said.

Later, speaking with the reporters, Chirag Paswan reflected on the disintegration of Lok Janshakti Party after the passing away of Ram Vilas Paswan.

"The circumstances were similar. It was an election year, and the first phase of nominations had begun, and during that time, my father passed away. My party worked tirelessly to fulfil my father's dreams, and during this time, there were many ups and downs. The party and family disintegrated, but I never let my father's dreams be shattered... In 2020, the party had to contest the elections alone, and I faced that situation bravely... I always kept the philosophy of 'Bihar first, Biharis first' at the forefront... Today is the death anniversary of my father, Ram Vilas Paswan... Every party worker will contest the elections with the commitment to work for Bihar's development and the philosophy of 'Bihar first, Biharis first' in mind," he said.

Ram Vilas Paswan passed away on October 8, 2020, from a heart ailment. Ram Vilas Paswan was the Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in the Narendra Modi government. He was also a minister in the previous NDA government. Paswan was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 1977 on a Janata Party ticket from Hajipur in Bihar.

While I appreciate the sentiment, actions speak louder than words. The party split after his father's death shows political instability. Hope Chirag can actually deliver on these promises.

Interesting to see how political dynasties work in Indian politics. The father's legacy becomes the son's responsibility. Hope this brings positive change for Bihar's development.

The real test will be in the upcoming elections. People want development, jobs, and better infrastructure. Let's see if "Bihar First" remains just a slogan or becomes reality. 🤞
