Disarmament is such a critical issue for global security. Hope Mr. Singh focuses on making the conference more effective - it's been stalled for years. India should take leadership in breaking the deadlock.

As someone working in international relations, I appreciate that India is sending experienced diplomats like Singh to these important forums. His 1996 batch experience will be valuable in navigating complex disarmament discussions.

While I welcome the appointment, I hope our approach to disarmament remains pragmatic. We cannot compromise on our security needs while nuclear-armed neighbors continue their buildup. The diplomat must balance idealism with realism.

Interesting move. The UN Conference on Disarmament has been largely inactive for decades. Curious to see if India under Singh's leadership can inject new energy into the process. The world needs meaningful progress on this front.
