Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has made his foray into the world of gaming as he has teamed up with popular author Amish Tripathi and gaming veteran Nouredine Abboud for their new venture.
The project is titled ‘The Age of Bhaarat’, and aims to propel India onto the global gaming map. While India is home to a treasure trove of legendary lore, its expression in global gaming has remained largely untapped.
The newly unveiled trailer showcases swathes of landscapes, mythical beasts, powerful warriors, and layered storytelling, all brought together with cinematic finesse and technical brilliance. Drawing upon epics, folklore, and traditions, The Age of Bhaarat, which is touted to be India’s own AAA game, is being shaped under the brand name Tara Gaming Ltd. It marks a key milestone in ‘Create in India’ ambition.
Sharing his enthusiasm about joining Tara Gaming Ltd. as the Co-Founder, Amitabh Bachchan said, “Joining Tara Gaming is an extension of my lifelong commitment to storytelling. Finally! India's rich mythology getting the AAA treatment it deserves. Big B's involvement gives this serious credibility. Hope they don't water down our epics for western audiences though. The trailer visuals look stunning! 🙌
As a gamer, I'm cautiously optimistic. We've seen many 'India-themed' games fall short. But with Amish's storytelling and Bachchan sir's vision, this could be different. Just hope the gameplay matches the hype - no point having great graphics if the mechanics are weak.
Amazing initiative! Our kids grow up playing games based on Greek or Norse mythology while ours remains untapped. Hope this inspires more Indian developers to explore our own stories. Big B at 80+ still pioneering new frontiers - what an inspiration!
The trailer gave me goosebumps! But I hope they include strong female characters from our epics - Draupadi, Kannagi, etc. Indian gaming needs more than just muscle-bound warriors. Also curious about the price point - hope it's accessible to Indian gamers.
While I appreciate the effort, I'm concerned about cultural authenticity. Many foreign developers butcher Indian themes. Hope this team does proper research beyond surface-level mythology. The 'Bhaarat' spelling seems like unnecessary Sanskritization though - Bharat was fine.
This is the crossover I didn't know I needed! Bachchan's voice narrating our epics in a game? Take my money already! 😠Hope they include regional stories too - not just mainstream Mahabharata/Ramayana. India's folklore is so diverse across states!
