Chief Minister Sarma stated that, in addition to the Sarusajai Sports Complex and the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, a new cricket stadium with a seating capacity of 20,000 is being developed at Amingaon.

He noted that the construction is expected to be completed by early 2026. The Amingaon stadium, he added, is being developed to host One Day Internationals, T20 matches, and other sporting events comparable to those held at Sarusajai and Barsapara.

Regarding the swimming pool at Amingaon, he expressed confidence that its construction will be completed soon.

During this visit, the Chief Minister also attended a training session at the National Center of Excellence for Badminton of the Badminton Association of India (BAI) in Amingaon and interacted with the coaches present.

Great initiative by Assam government! Northeast has so much untapped sporting talent. With proper infrastructure, we can produce champions like Mary Kom and Hima Das. Hope they also focus on maintaining these facilities long-term. 🤞

While stadiums are good, I hope they're not neglecting basic sports facilities in schools and colleges. Ground reality is many government schools in Assam don't even have proper playgrounds. Development should be balanced.

As a cricket fan from Guwahati, this is exciting news! Barsapara stadium already gives us great matches, another international venue will put Assam on sports tourism map. Hope they maintain pitch quality better than some other new stadiums in India.

Swimming pool construction is most welcome! Northeast has great potential in aquatic sports but lacks facilities. My daughter trains in Delhi because we don't have Olympic-standard pools here. Hope this changes soon 💪

Good to see focus on sports infrastructure, but hope they're also investing in coaches and training programs. What's the use of stadiums if we don't develop players who can compete at that level? Need holistic approach.

Hope they consider local traffic management while planning. Barsapara matches already create huge jams. Amingaon needs better connectivity before hosting big events. Infrastructure should include transport solutions too!
