To all the Anjali's out there: Kajol remembers her iconic role as 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham' completes 24 years

Kajol pays tribute to her iconic role as Anjali on the 24th anniversary of the blockbuster film 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham', sharing a heartfelt message for fans.

"To all the Anjali's out there, keep being loud and proud! - Kajol"

Mumbai, December 14

Bollywood actress Kajol paid a tribute to the blockbuster film 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' as it completed 24 years on Sunday.

The 2001 movie, produced under the Yash Raj banner, was helmed and written by Karan Johar. It features an ensemble cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, and Kareena Kapoor, with Rani Mukerji in a cameo.

To celebrate the occasion, Kajol remembered her iconic role of Anjali and Shah Rukh Khan's Rahul.

Taking to her Instagram, she wrote, "To all the Anjali's out there, keep being loud and proud! Rahul is out there somewhere, but he might be late because of traffic."

'Kabhi Khush Kabhie Gham' tells the story of a family which faces troubles due to a misunderstanding over their adopted son's (Shah Rukh Khan) marriage to a girl (Kajol) belonging to a lower socio-economic group than them.

The movie was a blockbuster hit, along with the songs made a lasting mark on the audience. The movie also gave the audience one of the most iconic characters in Hindi cinema - 'Pooh' played by Kareena Kapoor.

This movie also marked the first collaboration of Karan with megastar Amitabh Bachchan in the film.

K3G is more than a movie, it's an emotion. Every Diwali we watch it as a family ritual. Kajol's post is so cute - "Rahul is out there somewhere, but he might be late because of traffic" 😂 So relatable for us Delhi/Mumbai folks!

While the movie is iconic for its music and drama, we should also acknowledge its problematic portrayal of class differences. Anjali's family was shown as "lesser than" for being middle-class. As a society, we've hopefully moved a bit beyond that.

My introduction to Bollywood! I'm from the US and watched this in college. Fell in love with the colors, the music, the family dynamics. Kajol and SRK's love story felt so epic. "Bole Chudiyan" is still on my playlist!

Can't believe it's been 24 years. I was in school when this released. The whole star cast was fire. But let's not forget Kareena as Poo! She stole every scene she was in. "It's all about loving your parents." That dialogue still hits hard.

The fashion in this movie! Anjali's simple salwar kameez vs. Poo's designer outfits. Both became style icons for different reasons. Kajol's character taught us to be proud of who you are, no matter where you come from. ❤️
