Raid 2 director explains the delay in sequel development
Ajay Devgn reprises role as Amay Patnaik
Riteish Deshmukh plays a corrupt politician
Film set to release on May 1
"I agree we took a long time to come up with a sequel but it was important to create a good story and we worked really hard on it. Audience perception of sequels can vary. Some will also draw comparisons between the first part and second but it's part and parcel of expanding a franchise," Rajkumar told ANI.
In the film 'Raid 2", Ajay Devgn will be seen reprising his role as Amay Patnaik, an upright income tax officer. Riteish Deshmukh is also a part of the film. Audience can see him as a "corrupt politician" in the sequel.

On working with Ajay and Riteish, Rajkumar was all praise for them.
He said, "They both are fabulous actors. They both liked the script and immediately agreed to work on the film. Truly loved working with them as they both delivered a 'dhamakedar performance'. Audience will love their face-off."
'Raid' was released in 2018 and also starred Saurabh Shukla and Ileana D'Cruz. It was inspired by a real-life raid conducted by the officers of the Income Tax Department in the 1980s. Ileana played Ajay's wife in the movie.
'Raid 2' is set to hit theatres on May 1. It also stars Vaani Kapoor in a pivotal role.
