Kolkata / Jamshedpur, Aug 6 : Tata Steel's production in the month of July has increased by 48 percent , said a company statement Thursday.
'Tata Steel has recorded 48 percent increase in long product sales over July and best ever hot metal production of 5, 96, 738T (previous best: 5, 92,203 March'09),' said the statement.

Steel Melting Shops recorded their best ever production of crude steel at 5, 53, 027 t (previous best: 5, 49,798 t March'09), while LD#1 (one of the Steel Melting Shop) recorded its best ever production of 2, 40, 165 t (previous best: 2, 39, 026 t March'09)

Hot Strip Mill recorded its best ever production of 3, 14,752 t (previous best: 3, 10,503 t March'09), said the company.

Hot metal production increased from 482 tonnes (in 2008) to 597 tonnes (in 2009), ie, 24 percent growth, while crude steel production grew by 27 percent , from 436 tonnes (in 2008) to 539 tonnes (in 2009). Saleable steel production has risen from 435 tonnes (in 2008) to 539 tonnes (in 2009), ie, 24 percent growth.
