Chief Minister Badal thanks Jaitley for giving special focus to Punjab in Budget

Amritsar, Feb.28 : Expressing his gratitude to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for giving several important projects to the state, Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal said Saturday that it was in furtherance of the NDA's agenda to make Punjab the leading state of the nation.

Complimenting Jaitley for presenting a visionary and pro-people budget, Badal said the gifts given by the NDA Government were a testimony to the Centre's commitment to make Punjab a frontrunner state in the country.

He said that the key projects allocated by Jaitley to the state would give a further boost to economic development of the region.

Lauding the announcement of the setting up of an AIIMS in the state, Badal said it would help in providing a world class health infrastructure and services to the people of the state. He said the state government has been pressing the Center for this ambitious project for long.

He also praised Jaitley for introducing several pro-farmers decisions. The chief minister said the fresh target of giving Rs 8.5 lakh crore credit to the farmers would help in mitigating the woes of the peasantry.

Lauding Jaitley for keeping Rs 5600 crore for micro irrigation purposes, Badal said it would be beneficial for the state as its water table was depleting with each passing day.

The decision to set up a post graduate institute of horticulture research in Amritsar was also a welcome step, as it would boost ongoing agriculture diversification in the state.

The chief minister also thanked Jaitley for including the Jallianwala Bagh Memorial in the list of world heritage project sites and termed it a real tribute to the countless martyrs who had sacrificed their lives during the freedom struggle.

Badal said Jaitley demonstrated his commitment and passion for Punjab's development.
