New Delhi Oct 25 : WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange mocked Hillary Clinton on the eve of her 70th birthday on Twitter.
Assange retweeted Clinton's October 26, 2016 tweet wherein then presidential hopeful posted her childhood photograph and wished herself a happy birthday, by saying, "Happy birthday to this future president".
In his retweet, Assange wrote: "What happened? Narcissistic entitlement."
Less than a month later, Donald Trump won the election, defeating Clinton with 56 percent of Electoral College votes.
Assange and Clinton have long been vociferous foes.
In an exclusive interview with Four Corners, Clinton alleged Assange colluded with a Russian intelligence operation to disrupt the 2016 US election and damage her candidacy for president.
"Assange has become a kind of nihilistic opportunist who does the bidding of a dictator," she said, adding that
"WikiLeaks is unfortunately now practically a fully owned subsidiary of Russian intelligence".
Several investigations about Russian influence on the US Presidential election have been underway: a counter-intelligence investigation by the FBI, hearings by the Senate Intelligence Committee and the House Intelligence Committee, and inquiries about possible links and financial ties between the Kremlin and Trump associates, notably targeting Paul Manafort, Carter Page and Roger Stone.
On May 9, 2017, Trump dismissed FBI Director James Comey, citing in part dissatisfaction with the ongoing suspicions of his presidency because of "this Russia thing".
On May 17, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller as Special Counsel to oversee the investigation.
