WASHINGTON: Bloomberg Government today announced the release of the 2018 BGOV Top 20 Opportunities study. Contracts with the General Services Administration, the Navy, Air Force and Army occupy the top spots; the Department of Defense dominates the list with the largest number of opportunities.
This year the most lucrative deals, eight opportunities totaling $152.3 billion, are requirements for professional services.

The 4th annual Top 20 Opportunities report ranks the top federal government solicitations likely to be released in fiscal 2018 by total estimated value. The report includes an analysis on upcoming opportunities by funding agency, market, and estimated release date. The list of the 20 opportunities can be found at https://about.bgov.com/downloads/top-20-fy18.

Twelve of the top opportunities, worth $124.1 billion, are with the DOD, while the remaining eight opportunities, totaling $86.9 billion, are with civilian agencies.

"More than ever before, federal contractors are relying on Bloomberg Government to help manage their pipeline and identify more winnable opportunities," said Donald Thomas, vice president and general manager, Government Contracting, at Bloomberg Government. "The BGOV Top 20 Opportunities study uses critical data and analyst insights to provide a look into the largest deals coming up for bid in 2018."

The Top 20 Opportunities report found:
•Professional services, information technology and logistics/maintenance are the leading categories.
•Most of the Top 20 Opportunities have RFPs slotted for a release date early in the fiscal year.
•A heavy backlog of contracts waiting to be awarded has increased from this time last year.
