FLORHAM PARK, N.J: In today's mobile economy, nearly 70 percent of the U.S. population own a smartphone. Forty-six percent - or approximately 114 million adults - have used their phone to make a mobile payment.i This is compelling more public transit agencies to offer riders an easier way to pay for their journey.
Conduent Incorporated (NYSE: CNDT) announced the Conduent Seamless Transportation System, a secure mobile payment app, is now available to public transit agencies in the U.S. and will be on display at the annual American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Expo.

The Seamless app makes it easier for public transit riders to pay for their travel without the hassle of missing tickets or cards. Available to U.S., Canadian and European public transit agencies, it's the next-gen approach to ticketless public transit. Operators simply install Near Field Communication (NFC) tags provided by Conduent on their transport network, including trains, buses and trams. Riders download the app onto their NFC-enabled Android smartphone and register with Conduent Seamless to activate their account. The app will also be available for use with Bluetooth-enabled Apple iPhones soon.

To travel, riders simply tap their smartphone on any Conduent Seamless NFC tag. During the tap the tag creates and stores an encrypted transaction and relays it to the smartphone, offering the same security guarantees as conventional contactless ticketing. Billing is processed automatically at the end of the month, based on the number of trips completed on the various transport providers.

U.S. availability follows a successful pilot in the city and area of Valence, France. A group of 300 participants tested the app in partnership with the local transport authority, Valence Romans Deplacements.

"We're thrilled with the results of the pilot study and having achieved a 90 percent satisfaction rating from a customer survey," said Don Hubicki, general manager, Conduent, Public Sector, Transportation. "Conduent Seamless complements existing ticket infrastructures, and the pilot results will help us work with other public transit agencies across the U.S., Canada and Europe who are looking to modernize without replacing their entire system, and enhance the rider's transit experience."

Conduent will also have the following solutions on display at the APTA Expo (Booth #7405) in Atlanta, Georgia from October 9-11, 2017:
•Transportation Analytics: Public transit operators must continuously look for ways to increase capacity and optimize the use of infrastructure. Conduent's transportation analytics provide data so agencies can better manage transportation networks and accurately forecast adjustments to routes, service frequency and stop locations.
•Mobile Supervisor Solution: Conduent's Mobile Supervisor Solution is a mobile incident and performance management application. It offers two-way communication between supervisors and vehicle operators, enables dispatch, creates detours and can map views of vehicle locations with turn-by-turn directions - providing a new way for staff to effectively respond to incidents, road calls and service issues while in the field. It's accessible using any smartphone, tablet, laptop, or PC via iOS, Google, Android and Windows operating systems.
