Amethi, Sept 3 : Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi on Friday conducted a 'janata darbar' (people's court) in his Parliamentary constituency Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.
About 2,000 people attended the darbar held at Munshiganj guest house, Congress sources said.

The people approached him with mostly civic problems, like safe drinking waters, erratic power supply and bad roads and Rahul assured of sorting out the problems.

The young MP also launched 3G services in his constituency.

Stressing the importance of telecommunications, he said, "I remember that my father, when he was alive, he used to get recommendations for phone line connections. Today, everyone has a cellphone."

"It has reached villages and this work was done by Rajiv Gandhi and Sam Pitroda. Because of this, the entire country has been connected through phone," he added.

Rahul was on a three-day visit to his constituency from Wednesday.
