College Choice Releases 2017 Rankings of the Best Colleges in Three Northeastern States

EUGENE, Ore., Aug. 31, 2017 : College Choice, a leading authority in college and university rankings and resources, has published rankings of the 4 Best Colleges in Delaware, the 15 Best Colleges in Maine, and the 8 Best Colleges in Rhode Island.

Steeped in history, with long and illustrious traditions of higher education, America's east coast can boast a seemingly limitless array of high-quality colleges and institutions. Even in small states, prospective students can pick from small liberal arts schools, large research universities, and medium-sized private and public colleges.

"College Choice has been ranking the best colleges in every state, in order to help local residents—or prospective residents—figure out what their options are in higher education," Alyssa Koh, Managing Editor of College Choice, said of the ranking. "Big national rankings tend to obscure smaller gems, and those gems show up in these three northeastern college rankings in a big way."

College Choice developed its lists by looking at traditional metrics of institutional excellence such as student-to-faculty ratio, incoming student test scores, and regional accreditation according to data from the National Center for Education Statistics and U.S. News & World Report. College Choice also incorporated data on return on investment, or the difference between tuition costs and expected early career salary, found on Payscale.
