LOS ANGELES, Aug. 14, 2017 : Proper Hospitality today announced that Hollywood Proper Residences has become the world's first residential community project to earn WELL Multifamily Residential Certification under the WELL Building Standard (WELL).
Administered by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), WELL is a performance-based system for measuring, certifying, and monitoring features of the built environment that promote the health and wellness of the people who live, work, and learn in these spaces.

The 200-unit luxury high-rise opened in June 2016 as the cornerstone of Kilroy Reality's Columbia Square development, the site of the historic CBS broadcast facility that is the new home to major media players like Viacom. The property is the first to deliver a purpose-built luxury residential building with high design from Kelly Wearstler, and a host of amenities such as Filifera rooftop bar and lounge. Now the property has been acknowledged for its forward thinking design that includes the following features:
•Performance-verified indoor air quality achieved through a number of different methods, including increased outdoor air and a suite of innovative filtration media
•Extensive onsite fitness center
•Health-focused building materials
•Increased daylight access
•Augmented green cleaning program
•Verified acoustic comfort
•Biophilic environment
•Performance-verified water quality

"At Proper Hospitality we operate lifestyle hospitality experiences, which include a focus on not only design, 5-star service, and world class amenities, but also health and wellness," said Arash Azarbarzin, president and chief operating officer at Proper Hospitality. "We're excited to deliver this promise to our guests by becoming one of the first multifamily towers that meets the minimum standard for healthy living under the WELL Building Standard."

In addition to health-focused design, Hollywood Proper Residences provides its residents with ongoing weekly fitness programming, which includes yoga twice a week, Wednesday boxing bootcamp, and Saturday morning wellness experiences. Saturday sessions occur on the rooftop and include an hour of Qi Gong, aromatherapy and seasonal smoothies from Filifera.

"Proper's goal was to purpose build for a community that values wellness and the next level of luxury," said Brian De Lowe, president and co-founder at Proper Hospitality. "Becoming the first rental apartment project to earn a WELL certification reinforces this commitment to our community and ensures we are not only maintaining but improving its residents' health and wellbeing by creating an environment that enhances nutrition, fitness, mood, sleep patterns, and performance."

GBD Architects designed the tower constructed by Webcor Builders, both of which worked to ensure the use of healthy building materials to preserve a healthy environment during construction. The project is located on the historic Columbia Square campus, which includes office buildings that earned LEED Gold certification in 2016, and was nominated for the Los Angeles Business Journal's Commercial Real Estate Awards.
