Idris Elba not a suitable choice for Bond: Joanna Lumley

London [UK], May 12 : Former Bond girl Joanna Lumley feels that Idris Elba is "stunning" but he is not the right choice for playing James Bond.

According to The Independent, the 71-year-old actress, who acted as an Angel of Death in Bond film 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service,' believes that "Elba doesn't look like Bond's character, who is quite clearly described in the book."

In an interview given to Radio Times, she said, "Idris Elba is stunning but I don't think he is right for Bond, who is quite clearly described in the book. I'm colour-blind when it comes to acting, but Idris Elba is just a zonking great star anyway."

Elba, who appeared with Lumley in 'Absolutely Fabulous', was a favourite to replace Daniel Craig as Bond after Craig jokingly said he would rather "slash his wrists" than take on the role again.

But it has been reported that Craig is back on board for the franchise after working with Bond producer Baraba Broccoli on an off-Broadway production of 'Othello.'

Earlier, responding to rumours, the 44-year-old actor, in an interview with Good Morning America, stated, "Everywhere I go people want that to happen. If I'm really honest, I think I'm too old for that."

"Running around and cars and ladies and martinis... who wants to do that? Sounds terrible," he jokingly added.

On a related note, Idris Elba will be next seen Nikolaj Arcel's 'The Dark Tower,' alongside Matthew McConaughey and Tom Taylor. The movie is an adaptation of Stephen King's novel of the same name.

The flick is scheduled to release on August 4 in the U.S.A.
