This Diwali add a dash of glitter to you home in these simple ways

New Delhi [India], Oct 28 : It's time for colors, crackers, lights and celebrations, Diwali is finally here. With the festive season just around the corner, here are a few ways to quickly do up your home, just in time to host guests and relatives.

Kranti M, VP-Design and new initiatives, Furlenco suggests tricks that will give an elegant, classy and traditional look to your home with minimum efforts involved, to add a dash of sparkle for the festival of lights.

Metallic Home Decor: Diwali is all about customs and traditions and your home is a reflection of just that. Metallic mirrors and frames can really add that zing to a dull wall and give it a festive and traditional look without going overboard. It is an easy and quick way to pump up the look of the room. With a number of lights in the house during this time, the metallic sheen tends to glow which makes the atmosphere classy. You can also use metallic or rustic bowls/ urns for the floating candles to mesmerize your guests as they enter your home.

Cushion Covers: You've been planning to throw away your old kanjeevaram sarees for years. It's time to put them to good use. Cover up your sofa cushions with these sarees to give a traditional look. Make sure to use bright, shiny and vivid colors that will enlighten the room. The silk of the saree will give an elegant, fancy and ethnic look.

Lamps: Diwali calls for a lot of lights, lanterns and lamps throughout the house after all it is the festival of lights. Apart from the traditional diya's make sure to have a fancy lamp in each room. It can be a floor-length lamp or a small table lamp, place them in the corner to add that spark. Refrain from using any other lights as dimly lit rooms give a cozy ambience. Switch on the twinkling lights to complete the festive look.

Furniture: You will be a host to a lot of your relatives and friends. It will be necessary to have a proper seating arrangement. Make sure that you have enough furniture to seat everybody who is visiting, but not too much that gives a messy or cluttered look.

Polish and clean your furniture few days in advance. Centre tables would come in handy as there would be food served.

Carpets/ Rugs/ Dhurrie: Diwali calls for tash parties as well. Lay out comfortable carpets/ dhurries so that people can play their card games at ease. Colors like red, orange and yellow can never go wrong in Diwali as it adds that 'oomph' factor.
