"World is excited about India's youth, technological progress": PM Modi

New Delhi, May 23

Highlighting the growing global interest in India's development journey, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said countries across the globe are highly enthusiastic about the country's youth and its technological advancements.

Addressing the 19th edition of the Rozgar Mela, the Prime Minister shared insights from his recently concluded five-nation tour, noting a common sentiment among global corporate and political leaders regarding India's growth trajectory.

"I just returned from a trip to five countries two days ago. It was only a five-nation trip, but during this time, I spoke, had detailed discussions, and met with leaders of major companies from dozens of countries, and I felt one thing in common everywhere: The world is very excited about India's youth and India's technological progress," PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister emphasised that foreign nations and global enterprises are eager to collaborate with India, paving the way for fresh economic opportunities.

"Today, the world wants to be a part of India's development journey. India is also partnering with various countries around the world. I also want the youth of my country to get global exposure," he added.

Addressing the audience, the Prime Minister detailed how his recent five-nation diplomatic tour has successfully translated global enthusiasm into concrete, high-tech partnerships for the country.

"Let me give you an example of how India is becoming the world's number one trusted supply chain company. Like the Semiconductor company in the Netherlands, ASML, has an agreement with India's TATA company, which is very rare. It will create countless new employment opportunities in India and open India's door to next-generation technology. Similarly, technology and AI partnerships with Sweden and the UAE's collaboration on supercomputing will significantly strengthen India's technological capabilities. These agreements will certainly create new opportunities for the youth", he said.

Outlining India's rapid strides in the new economy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that massive expansions in sectors like clean energy, green hydrogen, and sustainable manufacturing are unlocking immense avenues of growth and global collaboration.

"Today, sectors related to clean energy, critical minerals, green hydrogen, and sustainable manufacturing are also growing rapidly. Partnerships related to these are opening doors to new port opportunities in the new economy. Cooperation in green transition and sustainable technology is also increasing with countries like Sweden, Norway, and Italy... Partnerships with the UAE and Norway will strengthen India's shipbuilding ecosystem", he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly inducted recruits under the Rozgar Mela initiative.

Congratulating the youth, the Prime Minister stated that they are stepping into their roles at a crucial juncture and will serve as responsible partners in the nation's growth story.

Rozgar Melas primarily target youth aged 18 to 35, accommodating a range of academic qualifications, including those who have completed 8th, 10th, and 12th grades, as well as ITI, Diploma, and Graduate degrees. This also includes trained and certified candidates who meet the National Skills Qualifications Framework standards.

As someone from the US, I've been watching India's tech boom closely. The ASML-Tata deal is massive—it's rare for a company of that caliber to share technology so openly. India's youth are getting opportunities that were unthinkable a decade ago. Kudos to PM Modi for opening those doors globally.

Exciting times indeed! Rozgar Mela giving 51,000 jobs directly is impressive. But my concern remains about the quality of education—21st century skills need a 21st century curriculum. These partnerships will create jobs, but only if our youth are trained right. Hope the government balances both.

“The world wants to partner with India”—what a shift from 20 years ago! I studied in Australia, and now I see Indian companies leading AI and green energy discussions. Green hydrogen with Sweden and shipbuilding with Norway? That's not just tech, that's geopolitics. Proud moment for all of us.

Great words, but actions matter more. Rozgar Mela is good, but what about the thousands of graduates unemployed for months? The pace of job creation needs to match the hype. Still, the semiconductor deal with ASML and AI collaborations are genuinely promising. Let's hope it's not just talk.

India is truly becoming a hub for the new economy. The focus on critical minerals and green hydrogen is smart—these are the resources of the future. If Modi's diplomacy translates into real R&D investment in India, the next generation will lead the world in tech. Exciting times!
