"We will plan accordingly and try to get them out as early as possible. - Kuldeep Yadav"

New Delhi, April 3

Delhi Capitals spinner Kuldeep Yadav hailed the Mumbai Indians as a strong team but sounded an alarm for the Suryakumar Yadav-led team, saying that DC will "try to get them out as early as possible." Both DC and MI will face off at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday.

Having made a strong start to their campaign, the Capitals will look to build on the momentum as they return home. In their previous outing, DC recovered from 26/4 in the powerplay to chase down 142 with a six-wicket win, courtesy an unbeaten 119-run stand between Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference about the challenge against the Mumbai Indians, Kuldeep Yadav said that the Mumbai Indians have a strong and experienced batting lineup, including players like Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Tilak Varma and added that DC will plan carefully to try and dismiss them early.

"They are a strong team with a very solid batting lineup. They performed well in the first match too. With players like Rohit Bhai, Surya, Hardik, and Tilak, they have a lot of experience and quality. Indian players have consistently done well for MI over the years. We will plan accordingly and try to get them out as early as possible," Kuldeep said at a press conference.

Kuldeep Yadav said that a player's strength defines their identity, and as an attacking spinner, one should always focus on taking wickets. He added that while success may vary, maintaining an attacking mindset is essential, as the team relies on wicket-taking contributions.

"Your strength is your identity. If you are an attacking spinner, you should not move away from that. If you are contributing to the team by taking wickets, there is nothing better than that. The team also expects you to pick wickets. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but your mindset should always remain attacking," Kuldeep said.

"Whenever a batter puts you under pressure, there's a tendency to move away from your strengths and look for safer options to get out of the situation. But I believe you should always focus on your strengths," he added.

Kuldeep Yadav said that as a senior bowler, his main focus is on-field communication and coordination with teammates like Axar Patel and KL Rahul. He added that after a good start to the tournament, the bowling unit isn't under pressure and will continue to improve and aim to challenge opposition teams.

"My primary role is on the field. Most of my discussions also happen there. Axar is a senior player, and with KL bhai as wicketkeeper-batter, the communication between bowlers is very good. We've just played one match, and it's been a good start. We are not under any pressure regarding our bowling unit. As the tournament progresses, we will learn more, improve, and look to put opposition teams under pressure," he said.

Kuldeep Yadav also highlighted that their last game showed the Delhi Capitals' ability to recover from early wickets and successfully chase targets.

"We showed in the last game that even after losing early wickets, we have the ability to come back and finish the chase," he added.

Good to see Kuldeep speaking with such clarity and confidence. The recovery in the last match was brilliant, but depending on that every time is risky. The top order needs to be more solid. Hoping for a great game at Kotla!

MI's batting lineup is a nightmare for any bowling attack. Rohit, SKY, Hardik... it's a who's who of power-hitting. Kuldeep's plan is right, but execution under pressure at the Chinnaswamy will be the real test. DC needs early breakthroughs.

Respectfully, I think the focus is a bit too much on MI's batting. DC's own batting collapsed to 26/4 last time. That's a bigger concern they should address first. Kuldeep is a champion bowler, but he can't win matches alone.

Love the fighting spirit! "Your strength is your identity" – such a powerful statement. The Kotla pitch might assist the spinners, so Kuldeep and Axar could be the game-changers. Let's go, DC! 💙

The battle between Kuldeep and Suryakumar Yadav will be the key contest. SKY is a beast against spin. If Kuldeep can get him early, half the battle is won. It's going to be a fantastic tactical duel.
