Israel Slams Pakistan's "Cancerous State" Remark, Vows Self-Defense

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar has issued a fierce condemnation of Pakistan's Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif, for calling Israel a "cancerous state" and "evil." Sa'ar labeled the comments blatant antisemitic blood libels and a call for Israel's annihilation. The exchange jeopardizes fragile ceasefire talks, already strained by Pakistan's diplomatic missteps regarding Lebanon. Meanwhile, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has reaffirmed there is no ceasefire in Lebanon and pledged continued military action against Hezbollah.

"Israel will defend itself against terrorists who vow its destruction. - Gideon Sa'ar"

Tel Aviv, April 10

Israel has responded with fury to Pakistan Defence Minsiter Khawaja Asif's statement, denouncing Islamabad's mediation pitch and vowing to defend itself against "terrorists" who want Tel Aviv's destruction.

In a strong-worded response, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar rebuked Pakistan over its Defence Minister's statement, calling jewish state "cancerous", which Sa'ar said is "calling for Israel's annihilation."

"Israel views very gravely these blatant antisemitic blood libels from a government claiming to "mediate peace". Calling the Jewish state "cancerous" is effectively calling for its annihilation. Israel will defend itself against terrorists who vow its destruction," Sa'ar said in a post on X.

This comes after Khawaja Asif, in a post on X, called Israel "evil and a curse for humanity" accusing it of committing "genocide" in Lebanon while peace negotiations are underway.

"Israel is evil and a curse for humanity, while peace talks are underway in Islamabad, genocide is being committed in Lebanon. Innocent citizens are being killed by Israel, first Gaza, then Iran and now Lebanon, bloodletting continues unabated," he said.

"I hope and pray people who created this cancerous state on Palestinian land to get rid of European jews burn in hell," he added.

The Pakistan Defence Minister's statement has put the fragile ceasefire at more risk, even before the commencement of the negotiations in Islamabad.

This adds more embarrassment after Pakistan's fumble in clearly defining the terms of the two-week ceasefire. Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif had claimed that Lebanon was also a part of the peace deal--a claim firmly dismissed by both US President Donald Trump and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu.

Meanwhile, Netanyahu again asserted that there is "no ceasefire in Lebanon" and vowed to continue military operations with "full force" against Hezbollah.

"I wish to inform you: There is no ceasefire in Lebanon. We are continuing to strike Hezbollah with full force, and we will not stop until we restore your security," he said.

As an Indian, my heart breaks for the innocent civilians caught in this cycle of violence, whether in Gaza or Lebanon. But Pakistan's government, which shelters terrorists targeting India, has zero moral authority to lecture anyone on peace. Their mediation is a joke. Focus on your own house first.

The whole situation is a mess. Pakistan fumbled the ceasefire terms, now their minister is making inflammatory statements. How can they be a mediator? Israel's response is strong, but I hope cooler heads prevail. Continuous conflict helps no one. Innocent lives are being lost on all sides.

Watching from outside, the language used is shocking. Calling for a state to "burn in hell" is not diplomacy, it's incitement. While one can criticize Israel's military actions, the response from Pakistan's minister seems designed to sabotage any chance of peace. Very irresponsible.

Honestly, Pakistan trying to mediate peace in West Asia is like a fox offering to guard the henhouse. Their record with terror groups is well known. Israel has every right to defend itself from entities that vow its destruction. We in India know that feeling all too well.

While Israel's strong response is justified against such hate speech, I do hope the international community also holds them accountable for the scale of civilian casualties in Lebanon and Gaza. Two wrongs don't make a right. The focus must be on saving lives, not escalating words. 🙏
