West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday led a Ram Navami rally in the Bhabanipur assembly constituency of Kolkata district ahead of the assembly polls.

Adhikari is contesting the two-phase West Bengal assembly polls on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket from Bhabanipur and Nandigram constituencies.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee lost the Nandigram seat in the 2021 assembly elections against Adhikari, but later secured victory in the Bhabanipur by-election against Priyanka Tibrewal.

This time, the West Bengal elections will see a face-off between Adhikari and Banerjee for the Bhabanipur seat, while Adhikari will also try to retain Nandigram.

Meanwhile, security arrangements were made for the procession by the Anjani Putra Sena in Howrah.

The nine-day festival, also known as Ram Navratri, concludes on Ram Navami, which marks the birthday of Lord Ram. Throughout the festival, all nine days are devoted to honouring the nine incarnations of the goddess Shakti.'

Ram Navami is the day when Lord Rama appeared in his human and divine form, and is celebrated with great reverence and festivities all over India, but especially in the sacred city of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.

The Bhabanipur contest is going to be very interesting! After losing Nandigram, Didi will not want to lose her own seat. But Adhikari has momentum. Bengal politics is always full of drama. 🍿

Jai Shri Ram! It's good to see our festivals being celebrated with such enthusiasm. Whether it's for politics or faith, remembering Lord Ram is always a positive thing. The security arrangements are appreciated.

As a Bengali, I just hope the festival and the rally pass peacefully. We've seen tensions in previous years. The focus should be on the spiritual significance of Ram Navami, not on political one-upmanship.

Contesting from two seats is a smart but risky move for Adhikari. If he wins both, he'll have to vacate one, leading to another by-poll. The real battle is for Bengal's political soul. The election dates are clear, now let the people decide.

The article mentions the Anjani Putra Sena providing security. It's important that community groups help maintain peace during such large gatherings. Hope everyone had a safe and devotional Ram Navami. 🕉️
