We have made politics a means of service and resolve: Uttarakhand CM
Almora, July 16
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday participated in the 'Seva, Good Governance and Dedication' campaign's 'Government at Every Doorstep' public outreach programme.
He also took part in the Harela tree plantation drive and planted a sapling at the Garudabaj Ground premises.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the state government has regarded power as a "responsibility rather than a privilege"
Speaking at the occasion, CM Pushkar Dhami said, "We have regarded power not as a privilege but as a responsibility. We have made politics a means of service and resolve. With this very thinking, this Seva Pakhwada is being observed across the entire state. Our goal is that no eligible person should be deprived of the benefits of government schemes. Therefore, governance is reaching your doorstep. We are working on the mantra of simplification, solution, resolution, and satisfaction."
Earlier in the day, CM Dhami extended his greetings to the public on the occasion of Harela. The Chief Mnister advocated for a sustainable future, urging citizens to embrace the ancestral practice of honouring and conserving nature, stating that we must preserve water and life and conserve our traditional water source.
Speaking to ANI, CM Pushkar Dhami offered his best wishes for the Harela festival and urged the citizens to reflect on the nature-friendly traditions passed down by their ancestors.
He said, "I extend my best wishes to everyone on the occasion of Harela. The Harela festival has held great importance in the divine land of Uttarakhand since ancient times. Our ancestors have celebrated it as a festival honouring nature and promoting its conservation."
The Uttarakhand Chief Minister emphasised the need to protect the state's natural resources amidst rising climate concerns, adding that we must 'protect' nature and conserve our water sources.

Finally a leader who talks about preserving our traditional water sources and nature. We have lost so many natural springs in Uttarakhand due to construction and neglect. This tree plantation drive on Harela is a step in right direction. Kaash other states also learn from this.
Interesting approach. In the West, politicians often talk about "public service" but rarely back it up with doorstep delivery. The mantra of simplification, solution, resolution, and satisfaction sounds good on paper. Would like to see how this translates into actual governance outcomes. Transparency metrics would help build trust.
It's good that CM is promoting Harela and environmental conservation. But we need concrete action on climate change, not just speeches. Uttarakhand is very vulnerable to disasters like cloud bursts and landslides. Plantation drives are nice but where is the plan to stop illegal mining in riverbeds? That's destroying our ecology. 🤔
"Power is responsibility not privilege" - this is a powerful statement. But actions speak louder than words. The real test will be whether this seva pakhwada reduces corruption in delivery of services. In Uttarakhand, many people still face harassment for ration cards and pension schemes. If doorstep delivery solves that, truly commendable.
The connection between governance and environmental stewardship is refreshing. Many Indian politicians ignore climate issues. But I question whether such campaigns are sustainable beyond election cycles. Real change requires institutional reform, not just outreach programs. Still, commendable to see a state government take nature conservation seriously alongside development.
