Actor Anupam Kher extended his condolences to the family of legendary singer Asha Bhosle, who passed away at the age of 92 years on Sunday. He called the demise of the singer a loss of a "national treasure" of India.

Taking to his Instagram handle, Anupam Kher expressed his sorrow about the passing of Asha Bhosle. He remembered the lessons from the singer, saying that she taught him 'professionalism,' 'mantra for happiness,' and others.

"Just now I got the news that Asha ji is no more with us. I have worked with her closely; I have done stage shows with her. Outstanding personality. What can I say about her singing? I would be foolish to say that I used to sing very well. Nobody sings like her. I have learnt a lot from Asha ji. How to be happy in every situation. How to tackle every situation," said Anupam Kher.

He added, "Professionalism, happiness, joy, togetherness. Inspirational journey of a great artist. I extend my condolences to the family, friends and millions of fans all over the world. But they say, such artists don't die. We will remember them through their songs and anecdotes, and you don't have to work hard to remember some things. Because they don't die from memories. So, Asha ji, salute to you, your singing, your spirit, never die spirit."

While sharing the video, Anupam Kher also penned a long note in tribute to the singer. He highlighted the good qualities of Asha Bhosle, calling her an inspiration for the singers.

"For over seven decades, she wasn't just a part of the music industry--she was an era. Her voice travelled across generations, languages, and emotions. From playful melodies to haunting ghazals, from foot-tapping numbers to deeply romantic songs, she made every note her own. But beyond the music, what made Ashaji truly extraordinary was her spirit. Her optimism. Her curiosity for life. Her ability to reinvent herself again and again with grace and joy. She didn't just inspire musicians, she inspired people," wrote Anupam Kher.

Asha Bhosle, one of the most iconic and versatile voices in Indian music history, passed away on Sunday, leaving behind a legacy that shaped the soundscape of Indian cinema and music for over eight decades. She was 92.

Dr Pratit Samdani at Breach Candy Hospital confirmed the demise of the legendary singer.

"Asha Bhosale breathed her last today in Breach Candy Hospital. She passed away due to multi-organ failure," Dr Samdani said. She had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday evening following extreme exhaustion and a chest infection.

Asha Bhosle's best songs span over six decades, showcasing unmatched versatility across Bollywood, ghazals, and regional music, largely driven by her iconic collaborations with R.D. Burman and O.P. Nayyar. Iconic tracks include 'Chura Liya Hai Tumne,' 'Dum Maro Dum,' 'Piya Tu Ab To Aaja,' 'Aao Na Gale Lag Jao Na,' 'In Aankhon Ki Masti Ke' and others.

As an admirer of Indian music from abroad, Asha Bhosle's voice was my gateway. The sheer range and emotion she could convey was astounding. The world has lost a giant. My condolences to India and her family.

A legend. But I wish the media would also celebrate her incredible work ethic and resilience as much as her songs. She faced so much early in her career and built an empire with her talent. That's the real inspiration.

Heartbroken. Her voice was pure magic. Every family function, every long car ride, her songs were always playing. She was a part of our daily lives. Rest in peace, Ashaji. Your music will keep us company forever. 💔

92 is a blessed age, but it still feels too soon. The end of an era. No one could bring playfulness and depth to a song like she did. The collaborations with R.D. Burman defined an entire generation of music.
