Haridwar, January 21

Dev Sanskriti University Vice Chancellor Chinmay Pandya remembered Union Home Minister Amit Shah, ahead of his visit to Uttarakhand's Haridwar, saying they feel a great sense of belonging and respect whenever the Union Minister is in their company.

The Vice Chancellor recounted an instance from the Union Minister's earlier visit, that while addressing the students, he remarked that they should never forget the values and the Gayatri Mantra.

"The preparations are going very well, and we feel a great sense of belonging and respect when he is among us. He has a very deep and long-standing relationship with the Gayatri Parivar. During his last visit, he clearly told our students to forget their degrees, but not to forget the Gayatri Mantra," Pandya told ANI.

While respecting our culture is important, I hope the focus also remains on practical education and job skills. The mantra is for inner peace, but degrees are for survival in today's competitive world. A balanced approach is needed.

Interesting to see the connection between a senior political leader and spiritual organizations like the Gayatri Parivar. Shows how intertwined culture and governance can be in India.

Haridwar is the perfect place for such messages of spirituality and duty. Hope the students take his words to heart. Our ancient values are what make us unique as a nation.

"Forget your degrees" is a very strong statement from a Home Minister. I understand the sentiment, but it could be misinterpreted. Education and values must go hand-in-hand, not one over the other.
