New Delhi, April 12
The International Cricket Council chairman Jay Shah expressed his grief at the demise of legendary Indian singer Asha Bhosle on Sunday.
Asha Bhosle passed away at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, where she had been admitted due to extreme exhaustion and a chest infection. She will be cremated with full state honours on Monday.
Taking to X, Jay wrote, "Deeply saddened by the passing of legendary singer Asha Bhosle Ji. A voice that defined generations, a legacy that will live forever. India has lost a true icon. Om Shanti"
Bhosle passed away at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai due to multi-organ failure, as confirmed by Dr Pratit Samdani.
Her son, Anand Bhosle, confirmed the news and shared details of her last rites.

It's heartening to see Jay Shah and the ICC paying tribute. Asha ji's music transcended boundaries, much like cricket. A legend in every sense.
While the tribute is nice, I find it a bit odd for a cricket council chairman to be the one making the official statement. Shouldn't it come from the Ministry of Culture or the President's office first? Just a thought.
The energy in her voice was unmatched! From playful cabaret numbers to soulful ghazals, she did it all. A part of our collective memory is gone. May her soul rest in peace.
Full state honours is the least we can do. She was a national treasure. Her duets with Kishore Kumar and Mohammed Rafi are timeless. Feeling very sad today.
Her international collaborations were fantastic too. Remember her song with Boy George? A true global icon. Rest in power, Asha ji.
