Northeast States Celebrate Unity on 54th Statehood Day

In a post on the social media platform X, the Assam Chief Minister conveyed his wishes to the sister states of Assam. "Warm wishes to our sister States of Tripura, Meghalaya and Manipur on their Statehood Day," Sarma posted.

Highlighting the cultural heritage and strength of the people of the three northeastern states, Sarma said that their unique identities contribute significantly to the overall unity and progress of the region. "With their rich traditions and resilient people, each of these States plays a vital role in strengthening the spirit of the Northeast. May they progress with harmony, and may their unique cultural identities always flourish," the post read.

On the occasion of the Statehood Day of Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his greetings to the people of these states, acknowledging their contributions to the development and progress of the country.

The PM expressed optimism for the future of the state as he posted on X, "On the occasion of Manipur Statehood Day, I extend my warm greetings to my sisters and brothers of the state. People from Manipur are enriching the progress of India."

Meghlaya, Tripura and Manipur were granted the status of full-fledged states under the North Eastern Region Re-Organisation Act, 1971, on January 21, 1972. Before this, Meghalaya was a part of Assam, and Tripura and Manipur were union territories.
