Virat Karrna on playing a Nagasadhu in 'Nagabandham': I felt some divine energy protecting us!

Chennai, June 30

Actor Virat Karrna, who plays the lead in director Abhishek Nama's much-awaited mythological action drama 'Nagabandham: The Secret Treasure', has now disclosed that he felt a divine energy protecting them while they were doing the film and that is why there were no injuries to anyone who worked on the film despite the film having had several challenging sequences.

Talking to IANS about the experience of playing a Nagasadhu in one of the most eagerly awaited films of the year, Virat Karrna said, "I feel like it's the role of a lifetime. I say so because I feel blessed to have got the opportunity to play a Nagasadhu in just my second film. Without Lord Shiva's permission, I don't think I would have been able to do this."

Pointing out that people had been praising his look in the film, he said, "I feel like Lord Shiva has blessed me. So, that is why the get up is that beautiful on screen."

Disclosing that the film had several challenging sequences including a climax sequence that had to be shot under tough climatic conditions, Virat Karrna said, "Everything was tough. But somehow we did it. I felt like some energy was protecting us. That is why in two years, nobody had any injuries or any bad things happening to them. No injuries that could stop the shoot of the film."

The actor disclosed that the unit shot for a total of 107 days and that the film was shot mostly in Hyderabad and Kerala. "Eighty per cent of the shoot was in Hyderabad only," he explained.

The mythological action drama 'Nagabandham: The Secret Treasure', which is scheduled to hit screens on July 3 this year, has triggered huge interest among fans and film buffs ever since the makers released a gripping trailer of the films.

The theatrical trailer dives deep into the universe the movie is set in. It begins at the sacred Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, where a priest reveals that the revered Brahma Kamalam is far more than a golden lotus.

We get to know that despite countless attempts by invaders and treasure hunters over centuries, the divine artifact has never been stolen. When a powerful evil force seeks to possess it for unimaginable powers, Lord Shiva arrives and joins forces with the Naga Sadhus to protect it. The trailer ends with the revelation of the mystical Nagabandham guarding the temple, setting up an epic clash between divine power and evil.

I'm not Indian but I find this fascinating. The idea of a divine energy protecting the cast makes me curious about the spiritual side of filmmaking. The trailer looked visually stunning too. Hope it gets an international release!

As a Telugu cinema fan, I'm thrilled! Abhishek Nama knows how to blend mythology with commercial elements. Virat Karrna saying he felt divine protection - that's the kind of dedication we need. No injuries in 107 days of shooting is no small feat. Jai Shri Ram! 🙏

I appreciate the devotion, but I hope the film doesn't get too preachy. Some of these mythological films can become propaganda tools. Still, the Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple connection is intriguing. Let's see if the story has substance.

My grandfather used to tell me stories about Naga Sadhus and their mystical powers. This film looks like it's made with genuine respect, not exploitation. Virat's humility about Lord Shiva's blessings is heartwarming. Will definitely watch with family! 🌺

I'm skeptical about all this 'divine energy' talk. Mythological films have become a trend just to cash in on religious sentiment. But I'll give it a chance - the trailer did look good and no injuries in a tough shoot is genuinely impressive. Action choreography seems top notch.
