Vice President CP Radhakrishnan to visit Tamil Nadu on August 16-17

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan will undertake a two-day visit to Tamil Nadu on August 16 and 17 during which he will participate in a series of academic, commemorative and literary events in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Thiruvarur and Thanjavur.
According to the Vice President's Secretariat, during his visit on August 16, the Vice President will attend the 22nd Convocation of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) at Kattankulathur, Chengalpattu.
He will also attend the first death anniversary function of La Ganesan, former Governor of Nagaland, Manipur and West Bengal, at Vani Mahal, T Nagar, Chennai.
Later, CP Radhakrishnan will attend the release of the book titled 'Echoes of a Nationalist Mind', based on the thoughts and writings of late K Ramagopalan, Founder of Hindu Munnani, at DG Vaishnava College Auditorium, Chennai, a release further said.
On August 17, the Vice-President will attend the Eleventh Convocation of the Central University of Tamil Nadu at Thiruvarur.
He will thereafter participate in the Ruby and Silver Jubilee Valedictory Celebrations of SASTRA Deemed University at Thanjavur, a release added.

Attending convocations and literary events is fine, but I wish the Vice President would also address some of the pressing issues facing Tamil Nadu - like the recent floods in Chennai and the water crisis in various districts. Hope these visits translate into some action on the ground.
It's great that the Vice President is celebrating academic milestones at SRMIST and SASTRA. These institutions are putting India on the global education map. Also nice to see him honoring the legacy of leaders like La Ganesan and K Ramagopalan. A packed but meaningful schedule.

Visiting Chennai, Chengalpattu, Thiruvarur, and Thanjavur in just two days - that's a tight schedule. I hope the administration manages the logistics smoothly without causing traffic disruptions for common people. Anyway, it's a positive sign that the VP is engaging with both urban and semi-urban Tamil Nadu.
Honestly, two days and four districts seems overstretched. Why not focus on one or two places and have more meaningful interactions? Sometimes less is more. But I understand the ceremonial duties of the VP office require this pace. Let's see.
