"Very confident, have faith in all MLAs": NDA-backed candidate Parimal Nathwani as Jharkhand RS polling gets underway

As the voting for Rajya Sabha elections in Jharkhand began on Thursday, National Democratic Alliance-backed candidate Parimal Nathwani on Thursday expressed confidence of winning, asserting that he has full faith in all MLAs.
Speaking to reporters, Nathwani said, "I am very confident...I have faith in all MLAs; if given a chance to do so, I will definitely serve Jharkhand."
When asked if he has Congress MLAs' support, he added, "I have everyone's support."
Nathwani earlier reached the state assembly in Jharkhand's Ranchi as elections for two Rajya Sabha seats in the state have commenced.
Polling in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly began at 9 am and will continue till 4 pm, while the counting of votes will commence at 5 pm. The results will be declared thereafter.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo expressed confidence that National Democratic Alliance (NDA)-supported independent candidate Parimal Nathwani would win with a "large majority."
Speaking to ANI, the BJP spokesperson said, "We are confident that our NDA-supported independent candidate, Parimal Nathwani, will win with a large majority... People will vote for him based on his work and the Prime Minister's policies for public welfare."
Launching a sharp attack on Congress in the state, he added that the opposition party called Nathwani all sorts of things and used offensive language, and the act was "extremely regrettable".
"Secondly, the Congress is calling him all sorts of things and using offensive language. This is extremely regrettable. Those who are objecting to us today sent Vijay Mallya with the support of the JDS. All sections of society should be represented," he added.
Voting for two Rajya Sabha seats in Jharkhand started, with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)'s Baidyanath Ram, Congress candidate Pranav Jha, and Independent candidate Parimal Nathwani in the fray.
The BJP is supporting Independent candidate Parimal Nathwani in the election.

Nathwani's candidature has made the Rajya Sabha contest in the state interesting as there are now three candidates for two seats in the state.
The ruling JMM and Congress, which is an ally in the ruling coalition in the state, have fielded a candidate each, reaching a seat-sharing pact.JMM candidate Baidyanath Ram and Congress candidate Pranav Jha have filed their nominations for the Rajya Sabha polls.

"Large majority" is a strong claim from BJP spokesperson. But in a tightly contested election with three candidates for two seats, every vote counts. Hope the polling is peaceful and fair. 🤞
The Congress calling Nathwani names is indeed regrettable. Politics should be about issues, not personal attacks. But then, why is BJP backing an independent? If he's so good, why not join BJP directly? 🤔
The dig at Congress about Vijay Mallya is clever but irrelevant to this election. Every party has skeletons. What matters is whether Nathwani can actually serve Jharkhand's interests in Rajya Sabha. Let's wait and watch.
JMM-Congress alliance fielding two candidates for two seats is a risky strategy. If they both win, fine. But if one vote gets split, Nathwani might sneak in. This is classic Jharkhand politics! 😅
I respect Nathwani's confidence, but as a citizen, I wish we had more local leaders representing Jharkhand in Rajya Sabha rather than industrialists. Still, if he does good work, I'm open to being proved wrong. 🙏
