Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday conveyed his best wishes to pilgrims on the commencement of the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, describing it as a sacred symbol of faith, devotion, penance and Sanatan culture.

In a post on X, Dhami extended greetings to devotees and prayed for the safe and successful completion of their pilgrimage.

"On the auspicious commencement of the sacred Shri Amarnath Yatra, a divine symbol of faith, devotion, penance, and eternal Sanatan culture, heartfelt best wishes and auspicious blessings to all Shiva devotees," he said.

He further prayed for the well-being of pilgrims undertaking the journey.

"I pray to Devadhidev Mahadev that every devotee's journey be safe, auspicious, and successful, and that it infuses your lives with happiness, prosperity, excellent health, spiritual energy, and a spirit of public welfare," he added.

Earlier today, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conveyed their best wishes to pilgrims. The leaders prayed for the success and safety of all those undertaking the trek.

Reflecting on the divine significance of the pilgrimage, the leaders on X highlighted the cultural and spiritual importance of the 'sacred' pilgrimage.

Yogi Adityanath, in a message to the devotees starting their journey, wrote, "The Shri Amarnath Yatra--a grand festival of Sanatan faith--begins today. Heartfelt greetings to all the devotees of Shiva embarking on this sacred pilgrimage. My prayer is that everyone receives the divine vision of Baba Barfani and that all lives are filled with happiness, peace, and well-being. Jai Baba Amarnath."

Wishing for the prosperity and protection of the pilgrims, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh wrote, "Heartfelt best wishes to all the devotees and pilgrims of Mahadev on the commencement of the holy Shri Amarnath Yatra. May the boundless grace of Mahadev--the Lord of Lords--and Baba Barfani always remain upon you all. May this divine pilgrimage infuse your lives with happiness, peace, prosperity, good health, and renewed energy. I pray to Lord Shiva that the journey of all pilgrims be auspicious, safe, and successful. Har-Har Mahadev!"

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his best wishes to devotees undertaking the annual Amarnath Yatra, which begins today, describing the pilgrimage as a "great privilege" and urging pilgrims to undertake the sacred journey with devotion, discipline and a sense of national responsibility.

The Prime Minister also encouraged devotees to mark the conclusion of the Yatra, which coincides with Rakshabandhan, by gifting a sapling under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign.

On Friday, the 57-day pilgrimage, which officially commenced, is heavily monitored using digital surveillance and RFID tracking systems to ensure crowd management and safety. The annual yatra is scheduled to conclude on August 28, coinciding with the festival of Raksha Bandhan.

As someone who visited India last year, this yatra is truly remarkable. The devotion and discipline of the pilgrims is inspiring. Good to see the government using modern tech like RFID for safety. Hope everyone has a memorable experience. Om Namah Shivaya!

Lovely gesture by PM Modi to connect the yatra with 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign. Planting saplings as we celebrate Rakshabandhan shows how our traditions can also be environmentally conscious. Let's keep our Himalayas clean during this yatra! 🌿

I appreciate the sentiments, but I wish the state government would also focus on improving basic amenities for pilgrims. I've heard complaints about inadequate sanitation and water facilities on the route. Spiritual journeys should be comfortable too, not just safe. Let's hope this year is better managed.

The digital surveillance and RFID tracking is a good step for crowd management. With over 3 lakh pilgrims expected, safety is paramount. Har Har Mahadev to all the bholenath bhaktas starting their journey! May the snow-covered mountains give you strength. 🏔️

This yatra is not just a religious event; it's a testament to India's soft power and cultural heritage. Foreign tourists should also experience this. But I hope the VIP culture doesn't disturb the common devotee's experience. Sabka saath, sabka vikas should apply here too!
