Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended a programme on Sunday organised in Dehradun, where the "Pride Moments" event was held to recognise and honour the contributions of the Sashastra Seema Bal.

During the event, SSB personnel extended a warm welcome to the Chief Minister. The programme highlighted the SSB's role and dedicated service in safeguarding the nation's borders and maintaining internal security.

The Chief Minister is known for his special affinity toward programs associated with the armed forces.

Chief Minister Dhami lauded the commitment and discipline of the SSB personnel and reiterated the state government's respect and support for the armed forces.

Earlier, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday inaugurated the Uttarakhand Malta Festival at the Government Garden Circuit House in Garhikant.

According to the Chief Minister's Office, the Chief Minister announced the launch of a Malta Mission to promote the production of Malta (a local citrus fruit) in the state, and stated that the state would also organise a Malta Festival in Delhi.

Dhami, along with his wife, Geeta Pushkar Dhami, visited an exhibition showcasing Malta and lemon varieties from various districts and sampled Malta-based products.

The Chief Minister said that Malta is closely associated with the identity and tradition of Uttarakhand. Horticulture can play a significant role in strengthening the state's economy and prosperity.

To realise these possibilities, the state government has launched several notable initiatives, such as the Apple Mission and the Kiwi Mission. On similar lines, the Malta Mission will be initiated to boost Malta's production in the state.

He further said that the government has taken several necessary steps to brand Uttarakhand's Malta and improve market access. Organising Malta Festivals in every district is part of these efforts.

To provide national-level recognition to Uttarakhand's Malta, the state government will also organise a Malta Festival in Delhi.

The Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is working with full commitment to enhance farmers' income. Through practical encouragement, innovation, and modern technologies in agriculture and horticulture, farmers' earnings are increasing.

This initiative will prove to be a game-changer in curbing migration and providing employment opportunities to youth near their villages.

He added that the state government is promoting suitable agriculture and horticulture based on local specialities.

The Malta Mission is a brilliant initiative! Promoting local horticulture like apples, kiwis, and now Malta can truly boost Uttarakhand's economy and reduce migration. More power to our farmers.

Good to see focus on both security and development. But I hope these missions (Apple, Kiwi, Malta) actually reach the small farmers in the hills and aren't just for show. The proof will be in the increased incomes on the ground.

As someone who loves Uttarakhand's produce, taking Malta to Delhi is a great marketing move. More people should taste the unique flavours of the hills. Hope the festival is a success!

Respect to the SSB personnel. They work in silence, far from their families. Events like 'Pride Moments' are the least we can do to acknowledge their sacrifice. 🙏

Malta is indeed part of our pahadi identity. My grandmother used to make the best Malta squash. Glad the government is working to preserve and promote this tradition. Fingers crossed for the mission!
