The CM and PM both stepping in quickly is good, but we need to ask - why are these accidents happening so often? The roads in Tehri are notoriously dangerous with sharp turns and no guardrails. Instead of just announcing compensation after every accident, the government should invest in better infrastructure and maintenance. Rs 50,000 for seriously injured is barely enough for hospital bills these days. 🏔️

A very tragic incident indeed. The compensation from both state and central governments shows concern, but the real issue is the condition of roads in Uttarakhand. I travel to Tehri often and the Chamba-Koti road is notorious for accidents. Why can't we have proper barriers and warning signs along such ghat sections? The lives lost are priceless. Hope the authorities wake up. 💔

Sad news indeed. But yaar, 8 people in one vehicle falling 300 meters? Was the vehicle overloaded or was it driver error? Without addressing the root cause, these compensations are just bandaids. The state government should conduct a proper investigation and share findings. Also, why was a private vehicle carrying 11 people allowed on such a dangerous route? Needs better regulation.

Having traveled in the Himalayas, I know how treacherous these roads can be. The immediate financial support from both PM and CM is commendable, but the bigger tragedy is that such accidents are preventable. India needs to upgrade road safety standards in hill areas - proper barriers, road widening where possible, and better driver training. My deepest condolences to the families. 🇮🇳
