US Navy jets launch from USS Abraham Lincoln during Operation Epic Fury: CENTCOM

US Navy jets launch from USS Abraham Lincoln as Trump threatens Iran could be "taken out in one night." CENTCOM confirms strikes, Iranian president vows defiance.

"The entire country could be taken out in one night, and that night might be tomorrow night. - Donald Trump"

Washington DC, April 7

US Navy fighter jets took off on Tuesday from the USS Abraham Lincoln as part of Operation Epic Fury, with US forces continuing to conduct strikes against military targets inside Iran, according to US Central Command.

In a post on X, CENTCOM shared visuals of the aircraft launching from the carrier, highlighting ongoing US military operations targeting sites in Iran.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump on Monday said that Iran could be "taken out" in a single night, suggesting that such a move could come as early as Tuesday amid rising tensions in West Asia.

During a White House press briefing, Trump said, "The entire country could be taken out in one night, and that night might be tomorrow night."

Trump's remarks came as part of his warning to Iran over reopening the strategic Strait of Hormuz, for which he has set a deadline of Tuesday, 8:00 PM (Eastern Time).

In a post on Truth Social on Sunday, Trump wrote, "Tuesday, 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time!"

His extended deadline came hours after he used unusually harsh language to convey his message, reminding Tehran of his deadline to 'make a deal' and to 'open the Strait', noting that Tuesday will be the day when Washington will wrap up all of Iran's energy and civil infrastructure.

"Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F****n' Strait, you crazy bastards, or you'll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah," he stated in his post.Trump had first made the threat to reopen the Strait of Hormuz late last month.

As the countdown continues to US President Donald Trump's ultimatum for Iran to come to the negotiating table, President Masoud Pezeshkian vowed that Iranians are ready to sacrifice their lives to defend the country.

He made the remarks in a post on X. The Iranian President said that he, too, stands ready to be sacrificed for the country. "Over 14 million proud Iranians have, up to this moment, declared their readiness to sacrifice their lives in defence of Iran. I too have been, am, and will be a sacrificer for Iran", Pzeshkian wrote on X.

The language used by the US President is shocking and unprofessional. It escalates tensions to a dangerous level. The world needs calm leaders, not threats. Hoping for a peaceful resolution before the deadline. 🙏

While the US posture is aggressive, we must also remember Iran's role in regional instability. Their actions have consequences. But war is not the answer. India should use its good relations with both sides to urge restraint. Our MEA needs to be proactive.

My heart goes out to the ordinary Iranian people. They will suffer the most, just like civilians always do in any conflict. The Iranian President's statement about sacrifice is heartbreaking. No one should have to make that choice. #Peace

Operation Epic Fury? Sounds like a video game name, not a real military operation where lives are at stake. This whole situation feels surreal. The world is watching a potential disaster unfold over social media posts. Unbelievable.

With respect, I think some comments here are missing the strategic point. The Strait of Hormuz is a global chokepoint. Freedom of navigation is critical for world trade, including for India. While the methods are questionable, the US is addressing a real threat to international waterways.
