"US' decision-making space limited": says Iran's IRGC

Iran's IRGC says US has limited choices in Iran war, losing support from Russia, China, Europe. Trump faces tough decision. NATO chief speaks.

"The decision-making space for America has been limited. - IRGC"

Tehran, May 4

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said that the US has limited choices with regards to the war in Iran.

The IRGC said that the US is losing its support with Russia, China and Europe.

In a post on X, it said, "Iran's Ultimatum Against the Siege to the Pentagon China, Russia, and Europe's Shift in Tone Against Washington Trump's Reactive Letter to Congress Acceptance of Iran's Negotiating Conditions It carries no more than one meaning; Trump must choose between "the impossible operation or a bad deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran." The decision-making space for America has been limited."

Meanwhile, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that European nations have "gotten the message" from US President Donald Trump and are now ensuring that agreements on the use of military bases are being implemented, Al Jazeera reported on Monday.

"Yes, there has been some disappointment from the US side, but Europeans have listened," Rutte told reporters at a European Political Community summit in Armenia, as reported by Al Jazeera.

The comments come as Trump's Project Freedom was launched earlier in the day.

US media outlets The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), CNN and Axios have emphasised Trump's chosen word of "guide" rather than "escort" to describe how his new naval mission will work in the Strait of Hormuz.

Amidst shifting regional dynamics, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar reportedly held a telephonic discussion with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, to review the prevailing situation in the Middle East. According to Al Arabiya, the conversation focused on the current regional atmosphere and the diplomatic manoeuvres being undertaken by Islamabad.

Meanwhile, the US evacuated 22 crew members held aboard the seized Iranian container ship, 'MV Touska', to Pakistan.

The M/V Touska was captured in the Gulf of Oman last month in an attack that Tehran called an act of "piracy," as per Al Jazeera.

Honestly, this whole situation is a mess. Iran flexing its muscles, US trying to save face with this "Project Freedom" thing. And meanwhile, what about us in the region? We need stability for trade and energy security. The Strait of Hormuz is too important for everyone to be playing these games.

This is pure brinkmanship from Iran. They know Trump doesn't want another war, especially after the Gulf of Oman incident with that Touska ship. Europeans are just following Trump's lead reluctantly. India should stay neutral and work with both sides for energy security. No need to get dragged into this proxy mess!

IRGC claims US decision-making is limited, but honestly both sides are trapped. America can't back down without losing face, Iran won't negotiate under pressure. Pakistan trying to mediate is a good move though - we need more diplomatic bridges in this region before things escalate further.

The IRGC's post is classic propaganda - they're making it sound like the whole world is against America when really it's just a temporary shift. Europe is still NATO, China is still China. And "guide not escort" in the Strait... sounds like Trump's PR team trying to minimize things. But real question: what happens to Indian oil imports if this gets worse? 😟
