UP: Fire breaks out in transformer in Ghaziabad's Khora Colony, no casualties reported
Ghaziabad, June 30
A fire broke out in a transformer in Khora Colony of Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad on Tuesday, as per the Fire Department.
The Chief Fire Officer, Rahul Kumar, said the Vaishali fire station received information about the transformer fire in Adarsh Nagar, Khora village, following which fire personnel rushed to the scene.
Speaking to ANI, Kumar said, "The Vaishali fire station received information that a transformer had caught fire in Adarsh Nagar, Khora village... As a precautionary measure, nearby houses were evacuated. There has been no loss of life in this incident. The fire has been brought under control."
Fire officials said the blaze was contained in time, and no casualties were reported in the incident.

Our local politicians should be held accountable. Every summer we see these transformer blasts and power cuts. The evacuation was good but why did it take so long for the fire department to arrive? In a densely populated area like Khora, even a small delay can be disastrous.
Thankful for the quick response from Vaishali fire station. The firemen are real heroes. But seriously, Ghaziabad development authority needs to upgrade the power grid. We have so many new apartments coming up but the infrastructure is from the 90s. God forbid if this had happened at night. 😟
Good that no casualties were reported. Reminds me of similar incidents in Delhi and Noida. The increasing power demand during summers is something the power companies need to plan better for. At least this time the evacuation was done properly. Hope the residents get compensation for any damage.
Another day, another transformer fire in UP. The problem is systemic - old transformers, lack of preventive maintenance, and overloading. The fire department did its job but the real solution lies with the electricity board. They should install new transformers before summer starts, not after incidents like this.
