UP Dy CM Maurya reviews law and order situation ahead of Monsoon Session, issues directives

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya conducted a high-level review meeting on the state's law and order situation ahead of the Monsoon Session-2026, directing senior officials to ensure tight security arrangements across the state.
According to an official press release, Maurya said maintaining law and order would remain the government's top priority and warned that negligence or harassment of citizens would not be tolerated.
During the meeting held at the Vidhan Bhavan in Lucknow, Maurya said peaceful protests are a democratic right and instructed police officials not to unnecessarily trouble student protesters. However, he added that strict action must be taken against individuals attempting to misuse student movements as a cover for criminal activities or disrupting public order.
The Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed preparations for the Kanwar Yatra and directed departments concerned to ensure smooth, safe, and convenient arrangements for devotees. He called for increased vigilance against anti-social elements and warned that negligence in managing the pilgrimage arrangements would invite action against responsible officials.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna, Additional Director General (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash, ADG Logistics Sanjeev Gupta, ADG Human Rights Raj Kumar, and other senior police officers.
The Deputy Chief Minister further called for stronger action against cybercrime networks, directing cyber police units and technical teams to be strengthened so that victims of online fraud receive timely assistance. He also ordered increased monitoring of social media platforms to prevent the spread of rumours, misinformation, and content that could disturb social harmony.
The meeting also discussed issues related to public complaints, online traffic challans, and the Ayodhya matter. Maurya stressed that enforcement actions should remain transparent, fair, and focused on public interest.
He reiterated that the Uttar Pradesh government remains committed to a zero-tolerance policy against crime and lawlessness, while ensuring accountability, sensitivity, and transparency in governance.
