Lucknow, April 23

Lakhs of students in Uttar Pradesh heaved a sigh of relief on Thursday as the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad declared the results of the High School and Intermediate examinations for 2026.

Girls once again dominated the merit list with an impressive performance. In the High School examination, Kashish Varma of Sitapur and Anshika Varma of Barabanki jointly secured the first position in the state after scoring 97.83 per cent marks.

In Class 10, 90.42 per cent of students have passed, while in Class 12, 80.38 per cent of students have passed.

In the Intermediate examination, Shikha Varma of Sitapur topped the state with 97.60 per cent marks.

Students must secure at least 33 per cent marks to pass the UP Board Class 10 and Class 12 examinations. Those who do not meet the minimum requirement will have the option to appear for compartmental examinations.

The UP Board examinations were conducted from February 18 to March 12 across 8,033 examination centres in all 75 districts of the state.

Evaluation of answer sheets was carried out at 254 centres between March 18 and April 4, involving the deployment of around 55,976 teachers. Nearly 1.23 crore answer sheets of the Intermediate examination were evaluated during this period.

UP Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh said that the list of toppers was released along with the declaration of results. He added that students who have achieved excellence at the state level will be honoured by the Uttar Pradesh government.

Students can access their results through the board's official website, DigiLocker, and SMS services.

Approximately 26.02 lakh candidates appeared in the High School examination, while 24.91 lakh students took the Intermediate examination, highlighting the extensive scale of the state's education system.

Following the smooth conduct of the examinations, the evaluation of nearly 2.75 crore answer books was completed within just 15 working days at the 254 evaluation centres. To ensure accuracy and reliability in the assessment process, principals and senior lecturers were appointed as examiners this year.

The board said the examinations were conducted in a peaceful and malpractice-free manner.

Congratulations to all the toppers! But honestly, the whole system of "toppers" puts so much pressure on students. My cousin was crying yesterday thinking she didn't score enough. 90%+ pass percentage is great, but we need to celebrate every student who works hard, not just the top ones. 😊

55,976 teachers evaluating 2.75 crore answer sheets in just 15 working days? That's some serious dedication! As a teacher myself, I know how tough it is. Hats off to all the examiners who worked tirelessly. Also, happy to see DigiLocker being used for result access - finally some digital progress in UP! 📱

"Malpractice-free" - that's the most important line in this entire article. For years,UP Board results were tainted with cheating scandals. If the board has genuinely cleaned up the system, that's a bigger achievement than any topper's score. Let's hope the transparency continues in future years too.

So proud of Shikha Varma from Sitapur! 🎉 As someone from a small town, I know how difficult it is to access quality education there. But one thing that bothers me - why is the pass percentage for Class 12 (80.38%) significantly lower than Class 10 (90.42%)? Intermediate is when students need the most support. The board should investigate this gap.

My daughter cried with joy when she checked her results on DigiLocker! 😭 The board's website was also working smoothly this year - no crashes! As a parent, I appreciate how smoothly the whole
