Union Minister Jitendra Singh monitors Amarnath pilgrims' road accident, assures all possible help

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Friday assured all possible assistance after a vehicle carrying Amarnath Yatra pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh met with an accident near Toldi Nallah on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, leaving five people injured, including one woman who sustained critical injuries.
In a post on X, the Union Minister said he had spoken to Udhampur Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa and was closely monitoring the situation.
"Just now spoke to DC Udhampur Minga Sherpa after receiving the report of a private motor vehicle from Madhya Pradesh, en route to Amarnath Yatra, having met with a road accident near Toldi Nallah on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. Five persons received injuries, out of whom one lady has been critically injured and therefore immediately referred to Government Medical College, Jammu. Every possible assistance is being provided. My office is in constant touch," Singh said.
According to officials, the accident occurred when an Ertiga car carrying Amarnath Yatra pilgrims as part of a batch travelling from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu towards Pahalgam lost control and crashed into a wall along National Highway-44.
Personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 137 Battalion, Gorkha 4/3, Civil Defence, Traffic Police and Jammu and Kashmir Police rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations. The injured pilgrims were shifted to the Associated Hospital Government Medical College in Udhampur for treatment.
Officials said one of the injured, identified as Seema Gupta, sustained serious injuries and was later referred to Government Medical College, Jammu, for advanced treatment. Further details are awaited.
Meanwhile, the Amarnath Yatra 2026 is continuing under heightened security arrangements. The CRPF has deployed Road Opening Parties (ROPs) along National Highway-44 to ensure the safe movement of pilgrims. In addition, the CRPF's 84th Battalion has established a 24x7 mobile health camp at Chanderkote in Ramban district, equipped with an Advanced Life Saving ambulance, medical personnel and essential medicines to provide emergency healthcare services to pilgrims and local residents.
