Efforts by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta have brought major relief to lakhs of rail passengers from North and West Delhi with the Railways accepting her request to approve a halt for two trains - connecting the city to Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana - at Adarsh Nagar Railway Station, an official said on Saturday.

Accepting the Chief Minister's request, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has approved the stoppage of Train No. 14331 Delhi-Kalka Express and Train No. 14053 Delhi-Daulatpur Chowk Himachal Express at north Delhi's Adarsh Nagar Railway Station.

The decision will make travel more convenient not only for tourists heading to Himachal Pradesh but also for devotees travelling to prominent religious destinations in Punjab, said an official statement.

Expressing her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vaishnaw, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the Delhi government is giving the highest priority to the daily needs and public convenience of its citizens.

She said the stoppage of these two trains at Adarsh Nagar Railway Station will save time for residents of North and West Delhi, make their journeys more convenient, and spare them the additional effort of travelling to New Delhi or Old Delhi railway stations.

The Chief Minister said the stoppage of the Delhi-Kalka Express at Adarsh Nagar Railway Station will directly benefit passengers travelling to Kurukshetra, Chandigarh and Kalka. It will also prove highly useful for tourists travelling to various destinations in Himachal Pradesh.

Similarly, the stoppage of the Delhi-Daulatpur Chowk Himachal Express will provide significant relief to passengers and devotees travelling to Kurukshetra, Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib and different parts of Himachal Pradesh, she said.

In particular, travel to major religious destinations such as Sri Fatehgarh Sahib and Sri Anandpur Sahib will become easier and more convenient for people living in North and West Delhi, she said.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the Delhi Government is continuously working in coordination with the Central Government on every issue related to public welfare to provide better facilities to citizens.

She said the approval to stop these two trains at Adarsh Nagar Railway Station is an important step in that direction and will directly benefit a large number of passengers every day.
