Trump Vows 'Massive' Destruction if Iran Attacks Qatar LNG Again

US President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Iran, vowing that the United States would "massively blow up" Iran's South Pars Gas Field if Qatar's LNG facilities are attacked again. This comes after Iranian ballistic missiles struck Qatar's Ras Laffan Industrial City, causing extensive damage to the world's largest liquefaction facility. Trump claimed the US and Qatar had no prior knowledge of an Israeli strike on South Pars that allegedly prompted Iran's retaliation. Trump vows 'destruction' if Iran attack Qatar's LNG again; claims Israel won't strike again

US President Trump vows to destroy Iran's South Pars gas field if Qatar's LNG is attacked again, following missile strikes from Tehran.

"I will not hesitate to do so. - President DONALD J. TRUMP"

Washington DC, March 19

After the world's largest liquefaction facility located in Qatar were subjected to missile strikes by Iran, US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that Washington had no knowledge of the attack, claiming Israel for "acted out of anger" striking at Iran's South Pars Gas Field which resulted in retaliation from Tehran.

In a sharply worded statement shared on Truth Social, the US President said, "Israel, out of anger for what has taken place in the Middle East, has violently lashed out at a major facility known as South Pars Gas Field in Iran. A relatively small section of the whole has been hit."

He said the US and Qatar were not aware of the attacks and stated that Israel would not target the South Pars Field unless Iran decides to attack Qatar again. He said that Washington would not be afraid of authorising destruction and violence on Tehran if Qatar's energy facilities are targeted again.

"The United States knew nothing about this particular attack, and the country of Qatar was in no way, shape, or form, involved with it, nor did it have any idea that it was going to happen. Unfortunately, Iran did not know this, or any of the pertinent facts pertaining to the South Pars attack, and unjustifiably and unfairly attacked a portion of Qatar's LNG Gas facility. NO MORE ATTACKS WILL BE MADE BY ISRAEL pertaining to this extremely important and valuable South Pars Field unless Iran unwisely decides to attack a very innocent, in this case, Qatar - In which instance the United States of America, with or without the help or consent of Israel, will massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field at an amount of strength and power that Iran has never seen or witnessed before. I do not want to authorize this level of violence and destruction because of the long term implications that it will have on the future of Iran, but if Qatar's LNG is again attacked, I will not hesitate to do so. Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP"

His remarks come Qatar's Ras Laffan Industrial City was hit by ballistic missiles from Iran, resulting in extensive damage, as per the country's Ministry of Defence. The attack is the second to take place in the last 12 hours at the largest liquefaction facility in the world.

According to QatarEnergy several of its LNG facilities were also subject to Iranian missile attacks after the attack on Ras Laffan.

"In addition to the previous attack on Ras Laffan Industrial City on Wednesday that resulted in extensive damage to the Pearl GTL (Gas-to-Liquids) facility, QatarEnergy confirms that in the early hours of Thursday, several of its Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facilities were the subject of missile attacks, causing sizeable fires and extensive further damage. Emergency response teams were deployed immediately to contain the resulting damage with no reported casualties.," its stated.

Meanwhile, Qatar has declared the military and security attaches at the Iranian Embassy, along with their staff, "persona non grata" and has requested that they leave the country within 24 hours, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday.

The statement from Trump is confusing. First he says the US knew nothing, then he threatens to blow up the entire South Pars field? It feels like posturing that could easily spiral out of control. Qatar is right to expel the Iranian military staff. Diplomacy is needed, not more volatile rhetoric.

As an Indian, my main concern is our energy security. A significant portion of our LNG comes from Qatar. If these facilities are damaged, it will affect power plants and industries here. The government should actively engage with all parties to de-escalate and secure our supplies. Jai Hind.

The whole situation is so tragic. Innocent Qatari workers, no casualties reported by grace of God, but their livelihoods are at risk. The world's largest facility... attacking it hurts global south countries like us the most. When will these power games stop?

Respectfully, the US President's statement is irresponsible. You don't prevent violence by promising even greater violence. It sets a terrible precedent. India has always stood for peaceful resolution of disputes. This tit-for-tat will only lead to more suffering for ordinary people in the region.

The geopolitics of energy is getting messier. India has good relations with both Qatar and Iran. We must use our diplomatic channels to urge restraint. A full-blown conflict in the Strait of Hormuz would be a disaster for oil and gas shipments to India.
