Trump says Iran's "biggest bridge" hit; urges Tehran to strike deal "before it's too late"

Trump warns Iran to strike a deal as IDF reports strikes on ballistic missile sites and elimination of a key commander amid escalating conflict.

"IT IS TIME FOR IRAN TO MAKE A DEAL BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE - Donald J. Trump"

Washington DC, April 3

US President Donald Trump on Thursday stated that Iran's biggest bridge has been hit and, in a sharply worded statement, called on Tehran to make a deal before it is "too late."

He made the remarks in a post on Truth Social and shared a video clip which showed a bridge coming down.

Trump said, "The biggest bridge in Iran comes tumbling down, never to be used again -- Much more to follow! IT IS TIME FOR IRAN TO MAKE A DEAL BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE, AND THERE IS NOTHING LEFT OF WHAT STILL COULD BECOME A GREAT COUNTRY! President DONALD J. TRUMP"

According to Iranian state TV, the attack on the bridge, connecting the province to Tehran, left at least two dead and several injured, The Hill reported.

Earlier, US CENTCOM in a post on X shared remarks by CENTCOM Commander Adm Brad Cooper, who said that the US is making "undeniable progress" as the campaign against Iran stands in its fifth week.

"Now in our 5th week of the campaign, it is my operational assessment that we are making undeniable progress. We don't see their navy sailing. We don't see their aircraft flying, and their air and missile defense systems have largely been destroyed." - Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM Commander

Meanwhile, the Israeli Defence Forces shared several operational updates from Iran in a series of posts on X.

The IDF said in a post on X that more than 50 targets of the ballistic missile array in Iran were struck.

IDF said that the Israeli Air Force completed 20+ strikes in central and western Tehran, striking dozens of launch sites and ballistic missile storage sites with 140+ munitions.

It also said that the central headquarters of the IRGC in Tehran which it claimed was used for managing budgets for terror activities worldwide was also struck.

It also said that Jamshid Eshaqi, Iran's commander of the Oil Headquarters, was also eliminated. As per the IDF, "The Oil HQs enable the continuation of IRGC activities and military buildup through profits from oil sales. Eshaqi led the financial arm of the regime's forces and oversaw military industries responsible for producing ballistic missiles. Additionally, he worked to allocate funds to finance Iran's terror proxies across the Middle East."

The development comes amid an escalating security situation in West Asia and the Gulf region as the conflict between US-Israel and Iran stands in its second month now.

From an Indian perspective, stability in West Asia is crucial for our energy security and for the millions of our citizens working there. This prolonged conflict is worrying. Both sides need to step back and talk. The "deal or else" rhetoric helps no one.

Trump's statement sounds more like a movie villain than a statesman. "Much more to follow!"? This isn't a video game. Real people are dying. India has always advocated for peaceful resolution of disputes. This kind of posturing makes the region more volatile.

The human cost is heartbreaking. Two dead on that bridge, just going about their day. My heart goes out to the families. War is never the solution. As a country that values 'Ahimsa', we must hope for a ceasefire and dialogue. 🙏

The report says the bridge connected a province to Tehran. That's critical infrastructure for civilians, not just military. Targeting it seems disproportionate. India has managed complex relations with both the US and Iran; perhaps our diplomatic channels could help de-escalate?

While Iran's actions in the region are a legitimate security concern, the language and scale of the response are alarming. A "campaign" in its fifth week? This feels like it's moving towards a full-scale war. The global economy, including ours, cannot afford another major conflict.
