Tripura sand artist creates Netaji-themed sculpture to promote 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign

Sand artist Krishna Debnath on Wednesday created a sand art installation in Agartala as part of the nationwide 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign being observed ahead of Independence Day celebrations.
The sculpture features a portrait of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose alongside elements highlighting the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' initiative, which encourages citizens to hoist the National Flag and celebrate the spirit of patriotism across the country.
Speaking to reporters, Debnath said, "As part of the month-long programmes being organised to mark Independence Day, I have created this sand sculpture featuring a portrait of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose along with the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign."
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday shared a video on his official Instagram account and made a special appeal to citizens ahead of Independence Day. In the video, he urged people across the country to celebrate the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign as a festival in every household.
The Prime Minister also encouraged citizens to hoist the Tricolour at their homes and celebrate August 15 with pride, enthusiasm, and patriotic fervour. His appeal comes as India prepares to celebrate its 80th Independence Day on August 15, 2026.
Ahead of the national celebrations, the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign is being observed across the country, while Tiranga Yatras and other patriotic programmes are being organised in various states.
The 'Har Ghar Tiranga 2026' campaign is currently underway, providing citizens with an opportunity to participate in the nationwide initiative by hoisting the National Flag, uploading selfies, and taking part in activities associated with Independence Day celebrations.
The campaign, launched by Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, will run from August 9 to August 17. This year's edition places special emphasis on the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, with citizens being encouraged to learn and sing the National Song as part of the celebrations.
People can participate in the campaign through the dedicated Har Ghar Tiranga platform. The portal allows users to register their participation, virtually hoist the Tiranga, upload selfies, and download certificates or commemorative videos after completing the activities.
To take part, citizens need to visit the official Har Ghar Tiranga website, select the "Hoist Flag" option, enter their details, and follow the instructions provided on the portal. After completing the activity, participants can download their certificates, where available.
The campaign aims to inspire citizens to proudly display the National Flag while ensuring that it is treated with the dignity and respect prescribed under the Flag Code of India.

While I appreciate the effort, I hope the campaign also focuses on educating people about proper flag disposal methods. Patriotism should include environmental responsibility too.
