Tripura MP thanks PM for sanction of ₹96.73 crore for 56 rural road projects under PMGSY-IV

Agartala, July 4

BJP's West Tripura Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Chief Minister Manik Saha for the sanction of ₹96.73 crore for the construction of 56 rural road projects in the West Tripura parliamentary constituency under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-IV, Batch-I.

In a social media post, Deb said the approved projects will cover 74.51 kilometres of rural roads and provide all-weather road connectivity to 56 rural habitations, significantly improving transportation infrastructure across the constituency.

The MP said the initiative would enhance access to education, healthcare, markets and other essential services while facilitating the transportation of agricultural produce. He added that the improved road network is expected to accelerate socio-economic development in the rural areas of the state.

Deb attributed the approval to the Centre's continued focus on infrastructure development in Tripura and thanked the Prime Minister, the Union Rural Development Ministry and the state government for extending support to the region.

He expressed confidence that the pace of development would continue under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and with the cooperation of the state government.

The sanctioned projects are part of PMGSY-IV (Batch-I) for 2026-27, aimed at expanding durable rural road connectivity and improving infrastructure in underserved habitations across the country.

Good to see focus on the Northeast. But why is it always Biplab Deb taking credit? The actual implementation by state machinery matters more. Let's see if these roads actually get built within the promised timeframe.

₹96.73 crore for 74.5 km works out to around ₹1.3 crore per km. That's reasonable for hill terrain. Hope the quality of construction matches the budget. Many PMGSY roads in our state deteriorate within a few years due to poor drainage.

As someone from a village near Agartala, I can vouch that road connectivity is our biggest problem. Kutcha roads become unusable during monsoons. If this project delivers all-weather roads to 56 habitations, it will change lives. But let's not forget, maintenance is equally important! 💪

Biplab Deb is right to thank the PM and CM, but we need to see this as part of a larger infrastructure push in the Northeast. The region has been neglected for decades. Let's hope these 56 roads are just the beginning, not the end of the story.

PMGSY-IV is good news, but I'm concerned about land acquisition issues that often delay such projects in Tripura. The state government should ensure smooth clearance. Also, local contractors should be preferred to boost the local economy. 🤞
