Tina Fey is experiencing 'reverse puberty' in her 50s
Los Angeles, June 5
Hollywood actress Tina Fey is embracing aging, and is getting candid about it. The actress, 56, revealed that she didn't fully understand what it meant to age into her 50s until she actually did it.
The actress also shared that it came with a few surprises, reports 'People' magazine.
She told 'Today', "I feel like it's a reverse puberty in a way. It's like your body starts to change and be disgusting in new ways. When you're 12 or 13, you're like, 'Why am I so oily?' And now you're like, 'Why am I so papery?'".
The actress shared that her own personal experiences, and those of her fellow writers on her show 'The Four Seasons' helped inspire the writing for it.
As per 'People', she even had a joke in the series about Will Forte's character being married to a middle-aged woman with dry skin.
She noted that since the writers were "all pretty much the same age", they went through similar things and could understand where each other was coming from.
She said, "Almost all of us have known each other a super long time, and so all the writers are really good about sharing their own things. Then sometimes our spouses are like, 'Is that me?' And then we'll usually just be like, 'No, no'. We'll just lie and say, 'That's so and so'".
The actress, who turned 56 on May 18, has also been candid in the past about how getting older has impacted the things she chooses to do, especially at night. She revealed that she attempted to stay up late to celebrate Saturday Night Live's 50th anniversary, to no avail.
She told 'The Hollywood Reporter', "I've never been able to get over the fact that I left the 40th afterparty before Prince's surprise set. So the whole week leading up to the 50th, I drank water, I went to bed early, I saved it all up".
"But when I got to the afterparty, I couldn't find any of my friends, and obviously there was no chance of Prince, so I thought, 'Actually, I'm out'", she added.

I don't see why this is news. She's just aging like everyone else. Maybe in the West they make a big deal because actresses are pressured to look young forever. In India, we respect elders more, though our film industry is also getting worse with ageism. Still, good on her for being candid.
Finally someone says it like it is! My mom is 55 and she complains exactly about this - dry skin, early bedtimes, and feeling like a teenager again but in a bad way. At least Tina Fey makes it funny and relatable. I hope more celebrities normalize talking about menopause and aging issues. 🙏
To be honest, I feel like this kind of casual honesty about aging would be more valued in India if we had more public discussions about it. In many Indian households, women are expected to just handle these changes silently. Tina Fey is doing a good service by breaking that taboo, even if it's through a Western lens.
I love the part about her coworkers sharing stories and then lying to spouses! That's so relatable. In India, our office gossip is similar but with chai and samosas instead of Hollywood parties. Aging is universal, and it's nice to see celebrities normalize the not-so-glamorous parts of it. 🌸
She's 56 and still making me laugh - that's the real takeaway. In India, we often associate aging with wisdom, but in Hollywood it's seen as a career death sentence. I think we can learn from both
