Three women killed as Tempo Traveller collides with trailer truck in Rajasthan's Churu

Three women from the same family were killed, and 13 others injured after a Tempo Traveller carrying pilgrims collided head-on with a trailer truck near the Bobasar overpass in Rajasthan's Churu district on Monday, police said.
The accident occurred in the Sujangarh police station area when the Tempo Traveller, carrying 17 members of a family from Kolkata, was travelling from the Salasar Balaji temple to Pushkar.
According to police, the trailer rammed into the Tempo Traveller near the Bobasar overpass, leaving the front portion of the vehicle completely crushed.
The impact was so severe that three women died on the spot. Local residents and passersby rushed to the scene after hearing cries for help and alerted the police.
Rescue teams, assisted by locals, extricated the injured passengers and the deceased from the mangled vehicle. Sujangarh Sub-Divisional Magistrate Om Prakash Verma and Deputy Superintendent of Police Darjaram reached the spot to supervise the rescue operation.
The injured were shifted to Government Bagaria Hospital in Sujangarh, where they are undergoing treatment. Hospital authorities said several of the injured sustained serious injuries and are under close medical observation.
Police said all the victims are residents of Kolkata, West Bengal, and had hired the Tempo Traveller for a pilgrimage to prominent religious destinations in Rajasthan.
After offering prayers at the Salasar Balaji temple, the family was travelling to Pushkar when the accident occurred.
The bodies of the deceased have been kept in the hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination, and their relatives have been informed.
Traffic on the highway was briefly disrupted following the collision before police cleared the damaged vehicles and restored normal movement.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the accident.
Recently, a tragic road accident claimed the life of a schoolchild and left at least six others injured after a school van rammed into a parked truck in the Thikariya area of Banswara.
The children, residents of Janamedi, Bahubali Colony and the Housing Board area, were on their way to school when the accident occurred. The impact of the collision was so severe that the front portion of the van was completely crushed.

Heartbreaking! They came all the way from Kolkata for darshan and this happens. The government needs to improve safety measures on highways, especially near temples where there is heavy traffic. Also the drivers should be properly trained and not drive on high speed.
Such a terrible tragedy. Praying for the injured victims and their families. These head-on collisions are often caused by wrong-side overtaking or lack of divider awareness. Hope the authorities investigate thoroughly.
The condition of these Tempo Travellers is also a concern. Many of them are in poor condition and drivers are not concerned about passenger safety. The family was on a pilgrimage, going to Pushkar after Salasar Balaji. This is just devastating 🙏
Why do these accidents keep happening? It's time for strict enforcement of traffic rules, mandatory breathalyzer checks and regular vehicle inspections. These highways need better crash barriers and well-marked lanes. My thoughts are with the victims of both accidents mentioned.
This is really tragic 🙏 The families who come on these yatras are often simple people and they just want to have darshan. The authorities should put up warning signs and speed breakers near the Bobasar overpass. Also, night driving on highways without proper rest is a big issue for truck drivers.
