Telangana stands as symbol of sacrifices by martyrs, says Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla
Hyderabad, June 2
Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said on Tuesday that the formation of the state stands as a symbol of the sacrifices made by martyrs and the democratic struggles waged over several decades.
On the occasion of Telangana State Formation Day, the Governor unfurled the National Flag at the Lok Bhavan. Subsequently, he received the Guard of Honour from the police forces.
He paid rich tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives during the Telangana movement.
On this occasion, the Governor extended his greetings to all the people of the state and to all the sons and daughters of Telangana living across the globe.
The Governor called upon everyone to remember and honour all those who laid the foundations of the construction of modern Telangana. Citing the adage "Janani Janmabhumishcha Swargadapi Gariyasi" (Mother and Motherland are greater than Heaven), he emphasised that one's motherland is indeed superior to paradise.
The Governor remarked that Telangana's centuries-old culture, traditions, and rural agrarian heritage constitute the true lifeblood of the state. He lauded the efforts of the farming community -- ranging from the chain of tanks dating back to the Kakatiya era to modern irrigation projects of today -- for transforming Telangana into a lush and fertile land.
He noted with pride that, alongside the agricultural sector, Telangana has achieved international recognition in various other fields, including IT, pharmaceuticals, and startups.
Inspired by constitutional values and the noble ideal of "Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah" (May all be happy), the Governor expressed his aspiration for the construction of a prosperous Telangana -- one where rural development, urban development, the welfare of all sections of society, and the modernisation of cities proceed in perfect balance.
He further expressed his hope that the State of Telangana would achieve even greater development and play a pivotal role in the nation's progress.
The Governor's Special Chief Secretary, M. Dana Kishore; Joint Secretary, Shashikirana Chary; and the officers, employees, and staff of Lok Bhavan participated in the celebrations.

I remember those long years of struggle when we demanded a separate state. Many lost their lives for this dream. Happy to see the Governor acknowledging their sacrifice. But I wish he also mentioned more concrete steps for farmers' welfare and water distribution in dry regions. KCR government should focus on mission Bhagiratha and Kaleshwaram really reaching every village.
Beautiful message about balancing rural and urban development. In Hyderabad I see rapid growth, but go 50km away and villages still lack basic infrastructure. Hope the government takes note. Also, would love to see more investment in education and skill development for our youth. Jai Telangana! 🚩
The Governor's speech is good but I feel it's more a ceremonial address. Where are the real policy announcements? Telangana's progress in IT has been wonderful, yes, but we need to address unemployment, especially among educated youth. Also hope the government doesn't forget the poor and backward classes. Let all be happy - Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah indeed!
Feeling emotional reading about the sacrifices of our martyrs. My own uncle participated in the movement and I remember his stories. So proud of how far Telangana has come - from tank irrigation in Kakatiya era to being a global tech hub. Yet we must ensure benefits reach every son and daughter of the soil, not just cities. Happy Formation Day, Telangana! 🧡🤍💚
Good speech but I expected more depth from
