Telangana completes 68.30 pc mapping under SIR

Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharsan Reddy said on Tuesday that 68.30 per cent of the mapping has been completed across the state under the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
He assessed the preparedness for Phase III of the SIR at a review meeting attended by senior officials from the Election Commission of India (ECI), including Principal Secretary Avinash Kumar and Under Secretary Sanjay Kumar.
Commissioner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and District Election Officer, Hyderabad, the Collector, as well as Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) of Hyderabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts were also present.
The CEO briefed the ECI officials on details of the Assembly Constituencies, the manpower drafted for SIR (including EROs, AEROs, BLO Supervisors, and BLOs), and the setting up of help desks.
The ECI officials gave a comprehensive presentation on the Special Intensive Revision, covering relevant provisions of the Constitution, the Representation of the People Act, 1950, and the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960.
They explained the importance of the SIR and detailed the key steps involved in the process: the enumeration phase (online/offline), the draft publication of the electoral roll, the filing and disposal of claims and objections, the issuance and disposal of notices, and the final publication of the roll.
The officials stressed the need to remain vigilant while filling out and collecting enumeration forms. They instructed officials to widely publicise the online submission of forms via the official portal (voters.eci.gov.in), as well as the "Book a Call" facility, which helps voters get quick information about the SIR.
Additionally, District Election Officers were directed to hold regular all-party meetings and actively involve Booth Level Agents (BLAs) in the SIR process.
Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao has directed district Collectors to involve people in the SIR process and create awareness among them.

Finally, some focus on electoral roll cleanup! So many names missing or wrong in the past. But are they actually verifying households properly? Or just doing a desk job? Action speaks louder than reports, ji.
68% done, but the remaining 32% could have the biggest errors 😅. Hope the BLOs are actually going door-to-door and not just ticking boxes. And that 'Book a Call' facility sounds useful — should be promoted more widely.
Interesting — the ECI presentation covers constitutional provisions. Makes you appreciate the legal framework behind the process. But implementation is key. Are they ensuring no one is left out, especially in rural areas? That's the real test.
All-party meetings are a must for transparency. But will Booth Level Agents be allowed to actually inspect the process? Or will it be a rubber stamp affair? The real test is if genuine objections are heard and errors corrected.🤞
The 'Book a Call' facility is a great idea for the elderly who aren't tech-savvy. And involving BLAs is smart — they know the ground reality. Hope the final rolls are error-free, because last time in my constituency there were so many discrepancies!
